How many sky Captain P-40?

Post by lsc1002 » Tue Jan 17, 2006 3:25 pm

Does anyone know how many Sky Captain where produced? I have heard 10,000 but can not find that number anywhere on the box or on the Ultimate Soldier webpage.

I dunno how many, but it seems like the new released planes are being cased as 1x F-104, 1xP-40 and 2xME-109G (2 different schemes). Can anybody confirm this?? The 2 Walmarts here were stocked as if this is the case..... If this is indeed a fact, then this is a real turn of events as far as stock levels go. I guess the FW-190s caused a backlash and this is the result. Interesting......

Generally speaking, about 2500 of each paint scheme is done. So, the one you saw on the shelf may be the only one you see.....

I don't know how many were made, but as for distribution, I am seeing the same case break down as you: 1 F-104, 1 Sky Captain, and 2 Bf-109. These planes are at just about every WM in town in Houston,

Interesting if that's the case distribution. I've yet to see a F-104 or P40 on the shelf, but I see the numbers of BF-109s growing on the shelf. And I'm sure many of us thought the P40 would sit on the shelves when they showed up.

I think somebody snagged the F-104 and you saw an old-stocked 190 in there with them. I still have them here, of course....

The limited number of new aircraft per case being the result of the FW-190 sales backlash may indeed make sense, but the stores haven't learned. The Wal Marts in the west (including all five stores in my immediate area) have all restocked the S1 ME-109G and they just sit around like the FW-190s before them. No one is really going to buy them (at least around where I live). I wonder why an old release was restocked at the expense of newer aircraft, which may have sold better.

I am personally hoping that the limited number of releases to only certain parts of the country is not a future trend...

Yesterday I saw a Walmart stocker put out a fresh case of aircraft and it was one ME-109G Hackl, one ME-109 Sahl and two S1 F-104s. I already have all three but the boxes were so minty fresh, I almost picked up another F-104!

If that's the assortment, then the F-104s are getting snatched up pretty quickly around here. All of the WMs around here have both of the new 109s, most have at least one Sky Captian, but the F-104s are disappearing much quicker than the others. That bodes well for interest in more modern aircraft.

After having 4 yellownosed Stukas on the shelf and getting rid of them( I bought 3 myself) the stockers put out a Hackl 109, Sahl 109, F-104, and Sky Captain P-40 in my local Walmart. I haven't checked back yet, but last weekend they were re-organizing the toy department and had no 1:18's at all. It'll be interesting to see what they have out next time....

So, we have either 2xF-104 and 2xMe-109 OR 1xP-40, 1XF-104 and 2xMe-109 for case loads. Either way, that is the most "assorted" arrangement I've seen so far. A marked change in doing business. I'm personally thrilled with it as it will result in mores sales and all of us get a better shot at different airplanes.

I never did see any Graff 109's here. So those obviously got stuck in the distribution quagmire.......

Sorry for going OT.....

4 WMs (MD and VA) have the following case breakdown. 1 x SC P-40, 1 x Hackl bf-109G, 1 x Sahl bf-109G and 1 X F-104. All were $39.84.

Maybe the case assortment depends on the area of the country. Sgt. Fury mentioned the same assortment that I've seen here and we're in the same region of the country.....I'm still wondering if those four Stukas could have came in the same case....

You both are probably right - distribution. The Graff 109s all ended up in California, where they have even been restocked. Those of you that found the new 109s, F-104s and P-40s all seem to live east of the Rockies. Here I thought the distribution was improving, but it still seems to be the same as 2-3 years ago
