One of the Wal Marts in my immediate local area finally got in the 1:6 weapons sets, as well as a couple 1:18 Sahara figures and the Marines that came with them. They also recieved a couple of the NATO cammo RC M113s. Nothing completely new, but it was nice to see something besides 32x playsets and "Herman Graf" ME-109Gs.

Tonight's trip located 4 each Command Car and 1 1/2 ton Weapons Carrier, 4 109Gs, two remaining $75 Abrams with one Humvee for the same price, about 8 or ten RC 113s discounted to $23, 4 sets of Dirk Pitt and Al Giordino, and 1 Halftrack. Oh! I almost forgot. Tonight I laid eyes on the F-104 for the first time. One in USAF livery.

Visited five different WMs:

1 - R/C discounted to $35
2 - R/C still at full price
2 - No R/C at all

Did score a 1/6 R/C Hummer for $50!!!

Also, saw some Tiger Is for sale at $21. If anyone wants one, LMK. The store is a little out of my way, but I would try to make a special trip...

Oh yeah, I saw the F-104 at ONE of the five stores I was at.

It wouldn't scan, but it was on a shelf marked "1/18 A/C - $49.96"...

This does not look promising for future XD releases - that's a 25% increase - UNLESS it is tagged $49.96 for the Avenger....

Empty shelves

Post by eddie372 » Sun Jan 08, 2006 10:46 pm

Yesterday I visited two WMs and one TRU here in the Miami area. I was amazed to see the toy shelves almost completely empty of anything, period. I thought they were moving!

As for XD and 1:32s, nothing! These stores almost always are very well supplied with all sort of toys, so it really took me by surprise to see empty shelves at all three stores.

I'll be glad to purchase anything available at any of these stores for anyone having a difficult time locating certain items. I'll keep you posted as to future available items.

Visited the Fairfield and Vacaville WM's today. Nothing new. They had a few ME-109 G-6's, 1 P-47 Eagleston, a winter halftrack, 2 tan humvees, 3 command cars, 3 playets, 1 British infantry (1/32) set, quite a few of the 1/9th vehicles and a bunch of the S1 marines.

Did a recon of the NW Houston WMs this past weekend. found just about everything. Found all four of the new assortment, F-104, Sky Cap, Hackl and Sahl at more than one store. Found 1/6 weapons assortments at two stores. S1&S2 Marines, Japanese, BOB repaints, and Sahara. Found all variants of the R/C stuff big and small. Found all of the current 1/18 vehicles (Sherman, Walker, trucks, Hummers, command cars, halftracks).

The availability is great right now in Houston, dare I say the best ever. The only down side is that nothing was on clearance. Guess I'll just have to keep checking for the sale stuff.

I'd be happy with the retail prices if the availability you have in your area were true in my AO. :(

Went back to one of the WMs I visited Sunday. The toy section is being re-arranged, you would expect this time of year.

In the NEW section of shelves, in the action figure section, most of the stock had already been relocated. There is a spot for the 1/18 RC tanks at full price.

Bummer, since I was hoping to pick some up on sale...

At 3 different WM's in my AO they were resetting the toy departments and had the planagram sheets hanging on the pegs. In the diecast car row they had it set for 3 pegs of 1/18 military figures and none of these stores had ever carried XD figures before, so I wonder if the distrubution will be more wide spread this year. Now I just can't wait for them to put the actual stock out.

Nothing new yet in Fresno, Ca. One store had next to nothing save 6 32x Brumbars, another had a ton of BoB figures (S2 repaints, not the new ones) & Graff ME-109Gs, a third store had a bunch of S1 & S2 RC Panzer IVs and M113s, & RC M1s and Hummers. The final store had the best selection with 32x sets, 1:144 vehicles, RC tanks and some of the desert hummers & command cars and Graff '109Gs.

(Actually, when the XD in all the stores is combined, this is a darn good selection as far as volume!)

Does that make the first series more collectible?

I stopped by a WM that rarely has much XD today and look what I found! I was able to get one full set of the new S2 Japanese and what I assume is one full set (6 figures) of the Operation Market Garden Airborne. These were all they had and I felt extremely lucky to get the full set of each.

Of particular note is that Sgt. Kudo's head band is now just plain white, no rising sun anymore. And as someone mentioned the cardback now have an anchor instead of the rising sun and they are now 'Imperial' Marines.

The cardbacks on both the S2 Japanese and the OMG Airborne only have pictures of the S1 & S2 US Marines on the back.

I found the S2 Japanese Marines as well today in California. I wasn't all that impressed with them, finding the paint quality a little inferior to the S1 versions. The changes to the packaging, omission of the headband and the name change to "Imperial Marines" I found interesting...

new figs arrive in socal also

Post by markecho » Thu Jan 12, 2006 9:50 pm

I also saw the new Op Market garden and S2 Japanese figures in Orange county today.

I thought the S1 versions were that tan version? Well that is the version I saw. Unfortunately someone had already stripped two of the packs open for the accesories...sheesh!

I wonder if the new BOB figs will make it to our coast...wish 21st could shed some light on that.
It is the dang toy companies that have sometimes made me want to stop collecting toys!!!
