Approx 6-8 Week Set Back
Re: Approx 6-8 Week Set Back
Best recovery wishes from Switzerland. Every day should be a little bit better, so patience is the best way to stand it.

Re: Approx 6-8 Week Set Back
well guys 2 weeks after my fall and things are getting better. I can now dress myself without the aid of my wife . that is a major step for me .
I can get up and down into a chair or couch without an extra hand.
the new fangled cast that I have now is hard fiberglass or other substance that is removable
it wraps my wrist and has a pop up knob that ratchets a wire that tightens the whole contraption around my wrist.
it still makes my hand useless but at least I can take it off to take a shower and getting to that itch is a lot easier.
I have a buddy of mine coming over and I am trying to teach him how to pour resin.
my expectations are a lot higher than his progress so far.![Confused :?](./images/smilies/icon_confused.gif)

Well thats good news Pickelhaube! That cast sounds interesting, removable huh.....never broke anything
but I've had more stitches and staples than Frankenstein.
Re: the resin, I'm sure your buddy will get the hang of it.....once he see's the "magic"
of a liquid
turning to solid and a negative space turning to a positive one thats it. Once people see the process and
understand it, there's no stopping them. I taught mold making and casting in college and nobody ever
missed that class......but we weren't making tanks.

Re: Approx 6-8 Week Set Back
4 week update
Last week I went to the Doctor's and not a lot of good news .
Apparently I tore a ligament on the top of my hand that needs to be reattached AFTER the wrist has healed. Another 6 weeks ? I need to ask him next week.
I went to get an MRI done on my shoulder Monday . One of the regular lay down kind. You have to put your shoulder in a cup like contraption that immobilizes the shoulder but does not support the arm.
Well... as you may have guessed my arm popped out of it's socket and OF course I screamed in pain. The bitch running the show said that I need to hold my arm for 23 minutes like that when they slide me into the tube. My suggestion to her was get f8ck and this will not happen .
So I went to another place on Friday where you can sit down and have the MRI done. This proceeded without a hitch and I go back to the Doc Tuesday to see the prognoses.
My back back does not hurt all that much . I can only raise my arm slightly below shoulder length and I can not clinch my hand. When I try my middle finger does not move all that well and when I try to close my hand I shoot the bird to everyone. I should have demonstrated this to that evil bitch at the first MRI place.
That's it Thank you guys for your patience who are waiting for your kits .
Hopefully we are halfway there but the ligament situation may be an additional adding of time .
I will find out Tuesday.

There's nothing funny about what you're going through but your rant had me doubled over laughing.
I've been there before.

I sure hope you are getting better soon Mate. Aside from the pain and hassle it must be costing a fortune in medical expenses - those MRI's alone are expensive!!!

Re: Approx 6-8 Week Set Back
Hey Guys ,
I am pretty sure most of you can probably care less but for the dozen of you guys who are waiting for your kits to get out I have some semi good news.
I went to the doctor Monday and he said I should have the cast off in 3 weeks .
I went to the therapist yesterday and they worked on me for about 2 hours .
Let me tell you today is the first time I am able to raise my right arm over my head !!!
As well today I was able to pick up a half full coffee pot !!
I still can not button my pants and going to the bathroom is still an issue
But things are getting better .
Friday will be the sixth week of my accident.

Re: Approx 6-8 Week Set Back
Friday marks the 8th week of my accident . I went to the Doc on Monday and he says I am not there yet. One of the cracks in my wrist has mended but the other has not as of yet and he says I need to give it another 2 weeks .
I will put this time to good use and will go visit my son out in California with my wife.
I will try and check it during the 2 weeks.
I will leave Friday afternoon. So if you guys try to PM me, it may be a few days that I will get back to you.
Hopefully when I get back the resin will start flowing .
I have stored up 2 x 2-gallon kits of resin and RTV each stockpiled waiting for me to get back to work !!!

As you get older things heal more slowly Matthew.
I hope you have a great trip to California!!! I would love to visit there myself - I have never been to the USA.

I have never been to Australia but I would like see it.
I had my chance many years ago when I was 21 ( 1980 ). Back then I was a bricklayer and at that time when I lived in Virginia there was a call out to the local bricklayers about going to Australia for a 2 year sign up. All room and board payed for as well as a good paycheck with no taxes taken out . Nothing was ever said on how we would get back !!
Instead I moved down to Louisiana and changed trades to become a marble mason. Working on high rise buildings hanging marble and granite panels .
I have always thought what could have happen if I would have moved around to the other side of the planet.
