Just noticed the color picture on the packaging shows an early "D" model before the forward extention to the vertical stablizer was added. Most full upper surface painted "D" models were that early version. The paint was more of a dark British green than army O.D.

Looks like another scale model was photographed for the cover. you can see that another detail is that the main landing gear covers extend over the wheels as they should. The 21st ones didn't. That is one comment I remember hearing from the crowds when the second generation P-51s were released.

Thought this was suppose to be in 1:32? Maybe both scales were being planned if I remember correctly.

Anyways, the second generation of 1:32 P-51D's was a nice mold.
We didn't get very many, whereas plenty of 1:18 versions, even now with four new releases.
