1/18 GERMAN 15cm sFH 18 Howitzer

Post by Aracula » Mon Apr 07, 2014 1:15 pm

I know they recently built a 1/16th version of this gun, but I wanted a 1/18th version so I decided to build one, and am almost done, I also molded the parts so should be able to reproduce them fairly easy, if anyone else might be interested in one, just let me know.

Will post some pictures of it soon.

Oh, also 1/18th Hummel coming soon :)

That sounds great and a 1:18 Hummel? I'd love to see it, I've often thought that would be a cool custom.

That sounds pretty cool. I always thought the Hummel was cool. Looking forward to seeing you take on it. Here are some pictures of a 1:18 Hummel I have in my collection I bought off an Ebay seller many years ago.

So are you casting all the parts now, including hulls and wheels? If so, that is great as I was thinking the other day about all the conversions being done of existing models and how eventually that source would dry up since 21st only made so many of their 1/18 products and the current crop of toys aren't always useful.

I cast a lot of the parts now, but almost all my hulls are still hand crafted from styrene plastic sheets.

I never could bring myself to destroy a 21st century toy or any of the other 1/18th ones to make a different version, just prefer to make it from scratch.

I agree even when I do Tiger or Panther Repaints or to convert the Sherman to build Picklehaubs Firefly was tough. Considering the prices on these vehicles seem to go higher all of the time, I have to almost force myself to do it sometimes.
