Maus in progress
Maus in progress
Usually do not take any pictures before I have a project done, but would like to have feedback on this one as I build it, so here is a few pics of where I am on it so far. Long way to go yet. Sorry pics a bit fuzzy.

Re: Maus in progress
Looking good so far!! I think you and Pickelhaube are the only two to take on the Maus in 1:18, very
cool. I'm looking forward to seeing your progress on this project.....your custom work is very good!

The MAUS is looking good so far. Can't wait to see some more. Will it be available or is this a commission job?

Re: Maus in progress
I can't imagine what these would have really done in combat... besides get stuck and break down making them giant fixed forts. The Germans wasted a lot of time and effort for very little result on these.

Re: Maus in progress
I have always liked the Maus even as a boy, I just liked its lines and size. I have a 1/16 Maus kit I will get to someday. The only thing I dont like about the Maus is when you add it to a tank collection everyone stops noticing how cool the rest are and they only want to talk about how big the Maus is. Thats why I have to get a Ratte! Then they wont notice the Maus as much

Re: Maus in progress
I scaled one of these out last year for a "pie in the sky" custom. I can't find the exact numbers right now but I recall it was going to be like 8+ feet long in 1:18 scale - My wife asked what I was measuring for with the tape measure and when I told her she said NO WAYJnewboy wrote: Thats why I have to get a Ratte! It would be a fun build! people have large scale tanks that are RC like 1/6 King Tigers and so a 1/16 Ratte or 1/18 Ratte would be possible and make it RC! It would be a show stopper with 1/18 German troops manning it!

Re: Maus in progress
If I had the room I would love to do it. It would be like the Imperial AT AT of the Third Reich. Your pictured reminded me that I have seen plans were they were going to keep halftracks and smaller tanks in a bay in the back with a ramp to fold down and deploy them into combat. Just wild ideas

More pics coming soon, getting all the wheels made been a real pain but will all move individually so will be worth it when done.

Re: Maus in progress
$5,500 ......shipping is hefty too. I'd rather stick with Aracula's 1:18 Maus.

Re: Maus in progress
Very nice Aracula it's looking great!!! How are the road wheels coming along?......
.....how many road wheels per side, 18 ?
I'd imagine the tanks tracks will be a major project as well.

Re: Maus in progress
Actually is 24 road wheels per side. And a 1/16th king tiger track actually works pretty good for this project
