It appears that powder coating is not an option. Minimum cure temp is 450. 280 is the melting temp of the metal I am using. I was hoping it was around 140.

I will be so happy when spring gets here. I thought Phil said winter was over. 7 inches of snow last night.
I actually made some progress this evening. Mixing the lead in with the bismuth has made a huge difference. I can trim and adjust the parts much easier. When taking off the wheels I mutilated the caps. I have to clean up the best one and cast new ones. I imagine most people will have this same problem, so I will include a set with each order.

The only thing the end user should have to do is remove the door panel, pull the pin at the main hinge, remove the wheel cap and screw. Chances are the wheel cap will have to be drilled out to get access to the screw. Then reinstall in reverse.

Here is the left side attached.

no need for drilling screw cap to get to screw... use x-acto knife make score on the cap then use mini screw driver to pop it open

Got my first set painted. My sign guy printed the decals on his printer and they turned out very nice. Granted they are so small that it looks garbled, but you still get the idea. He printed on a silver vinyl, so you have that metal plate look.

My wheel caps were super glued in place. I'm casting new set to replace them.

I am not adding weathering. I will leave that up to the end user. Each person has their own style and technic.

I am ready to start producing these. PM if your interested.

$25 Shipped in the U.S. If you own a set of metal landing gear and would like to replace the plastic parts.

$85 Shipped in the U.S. Kits will include instructions and parts to complete two landing gear (Left and Right).

$135 Shipped in the U.S. Completed RTI (Ready to install) landing gear. You will need to remove the rear panel door to gain access to the main pin. Remove the wheel cap to get access to the wheel screw. Replacement caps included.

International members. I prefer to ship these Priority. Certain countries I will only ship Priority. First Class International is an option, but you assume the risk. Depends on how reliable your carrier is.

Nathan,

Congrats, the landing gear looks awesome. If my 2 Cats were not going to be displayed in the "in flight" mode I would be getting these. I have a feeling these are going to sell well for you and hope you can keep up with the demand. Congrats for getting a deal with Bad Cat Toys as well. Keep up the great work.

Would there be any damage to the plastic gear that comes with if you were to swap out completely with the metal gear set you sell? Only reason I ask is I change position of my aircraft from time to time. So I might go in flight to gear down and vice versa.

BDO, Nice set up. I like the mirror effect. It would look cool to get some mirrored Plexiglas and place some LED'S in it to cast some lite at night.

The only thing you'll need from the old gear is the wheels. There is really about four steps. Remove the door panel to access the main gear pin, remove the wheels and install on new gear, install new gear and replace the door panel.
My wheel caps were super glued in place, so I had to drill out the cap to remove the screw. I cast new caps to replace the old ones. Each set of gear will come with a set of caps incase yours were like mine.
I've tried to make it as plug-n-play as possible.
