Military Toy Shop - Haven for 1/18 XD

Post by Razor17019 » Sun Sep 02, 2012 9:19 pm

Remember when you were able to go into a Walmart and see 1/18 scale XD planes, tanks and vehicles stacked to the ceiling???
Well I found a place where this still exists.
Saturday my son and I went to the Military Toy Shop.
The owner, Isaiah aka Mkxiv and I had agreed on a trade.
We had planned to visit the Wright-Patterson Air Force Museum and the Military Toy Shop was short distance away from the museum.
So, I brought my end of the trade to Isaiah's shop.

When I opened the door, I could not believe my eyes.
There was shelves with 1/18 XD tanks and pegs with BBI figures.
YES! pegs with figures!
In the next room, there were 1/18 XD planes hanging on the wall and boxed XD planes stacked 8 high and 10 across.
Some kid was even taking pictures of the planes, like he was in some kind of XD museum.

Although I did not get to meet Isaiah in person, his brother took care of me and made me feel really welcomed in their store.
Can't say enough good things about the Military Toy Shop.
Go see them when you are near Wright-Patterson Air Force Museum or you need a fix for the old days of 1/18 XD.

You have got to be kidding me!

I was at that museum not 2 weeks ago, and never even bothered to look for a hobby shop. At least one board member got to relive memories!

Do they have a website perchance?

They sure do: http://www.militarytoyshop.com/
But there is more in the store than on their website.

Agree with you wholeheartedly. Its a great store with great folks. I visit my daughter up at Wright Patterson a few times a year (Lieutenant in the Air Force :-D), and always make it a point to stop in. Ive had several good deals on hard to find items in their shop. Definitely worth a stop if youre in the area.

Good to hear that you had a great visit to Military Toy Shop, Razor.

Have dealt with them, and Isaiah in the past, but not for a while now. Isaiah used to post here, but haven't seen him around lately.

Would love to visit some of the big diecast dealers headquarters/ warehouses.

I sent them an email about them buying some of my 1/18 planes for their rare and collectible listing. Mainly to see what they are looking for and if I have it.

I would surmise that this is due in part to Skyjerks debacle.

When that went sour they kind of backed out of circulation.

Hey Guys,

1st off thank you Razor for the very kind post. Next time I will make sure to be here so I can meet you.

It has been a long time since I have posted here. Military Toy Shop is still around and doing well, we opened the retail store three years ago and really has taken off. We now stock all kinds of diecast models, Toys and even R/C along with a good amount of new and old 1:18 XD. The website is very much neglected and we are working on getting a more modern site.

Please stop by the Store if any of you are going to be in the area and say Hi. We are located 10-15 minutes away from the National Museum Of the USAF http://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/

I too can vouch for the Military Toy Shop. :) 1/18 and 1/32 are alive and thriving there. 8) Also, some great metal diecast pieces you just don't see in person anywhere else. You're greeted just inside the door by an F-18 and F-14 in 1/18 on display and it just gets better form there. Always something new and different each time I've been there. :o It is a must stop if you are anywhere near Dayton, Springfield, Xenia. As stated, a very short drive from the Air Force Museum. Whenever I am working up that way (from Cincinnati) I try to stop in if time permits.
