FW 190D, Sugestions needed

Post by caribmar » Mon Jul 30, 2012 6:55 pm

Hello,
I am enjoying my newly acquired FW 190D. The fuselage looks great but looking at my references the wings look a little off. Anybody tried to modify the wings on this plane? Any suggestions would be great.

Thank you for the help in advance.

Well, the wing planform isn't that bad. The trailing edge, or in this case the trailing block is horrible. :x If you scaled up that trailing edge to full scale, it would probably be 3 inches of flat surface. It would take a lot of trimming and sanding, both top and bottom followed by a repaint, to get the taper to a sharp edge. The landing gear with the gear leg half moon molded into the gear cover to make a spindly looking insect leg is a real nightmare if you are trying to get the look of a scale model rather than a toy. The 1/32 version is a smaller clone of the 1/18 with the exact same issues. :( Too bad since the rest is pretty good. :)

Thanks for the feedback, maybe in the future I will try to make the modification. I'm up to my ears with projects.

 I hear you on the projects. I think I have about seven or eight in progress right now. That's part of the fun. If you get frustrated or run into a major snag on one, you can set it aside for awhile and work on something else until you get the urge to jump back into the other one. Started with a Corsair project and went back to the P-47 project and P-51 project and even some vehicle projects. The FW-190D will be a huge project as is the P-47 project which is extensive to improve. Never bored
