FOV will no longer make 1/18 WWII figures

Post by AMERICAN_GRENADIER » Fri Mar 30, 2012 4:10 am

to my dismay i found out today that Fov has dropped the very popular 1/18 world war II figure line. no news if this is a sign to come for WWII enthusiasts. We sold hundreds of sets a year of this series and are sorry to see them go

i guess they didn't say why they were dropping them?

and i guess this means all hope of new 1/18 wwii armour from FOV is gone; this i possibly the final nail in the coffin for 1/18 armour.

Has the political correct monster hit again? Didn't TRU stop selling WW2 stuff because it offended people to see "Nazi Toys"?.

Maybe with all the kids growing up on the GWOT, they figure that modern stuff will sell better.

could be a Stryker or an MRAP on the horizon?

Where are the FOV products sold currently? It was my understanding that it was first TRU and now Target. Is this correct and are there other stores that have them?

That wave of German and U.S. soldiers run for quite a few years.Maybe it was time for them to sell something new.I remember they stop making the Bradley and Abraham for a short time, and all the sudden they where back in stores.
It is sad that people get offended by a regular German soldier. They think that every German is a Nazi.

Their WW2 figures weren't very good, but the vehicles were great. Too bad.

Well that stinks. I liked these figures, good head sculpts, plenty of equipment and the
price was great.
Their 1:18 Tiger I was a great piece. I always thought they'd make a King Tiger. Guess not........
I'm sorry to hear they are dropping the WWII figures, FOV must be doing very well and doesn't need our money.

That's too bad, I only got one set of the Germans when they came out, and I really like them.

I loved the figures... Their GI's were meh, but the Germans were really well done I felt. they had great gear.

They haven't really done much with them though. They quit selling at B&M retailers all together, and I would guess interest trailed off. Oh well, such is life.

I wish they'd make new WW2 stuff, like German Half-Track or Panzer IV, or maybe a Hell-Cat tank destroyer and a new WW2 action figure line. Unfortunately there is apparently no market for it so that will never happen.

I think it's matter of them needing to decide whether or not to do another large run of these products which have been available for quite some time, or retire them, so they decided on the latter. I hope they choose to do a second series of WW2-themed items and I see no reason why this would be out of the question although unless a major retailer (like Target) gets on board I'm not sure if it is something they'd invest in.

Target will not carry WWII themed lines. This was a problem back in the day when BBI was in Target stores....they could only offer modern war toys, not wwii.

Bravo Team is under the same restriction, although they initially slid in WWII stuff, when Bravo Team first came out, but Target clued in eventually and only allowed the modern stuff we see now.

So, any new Bravo Team WWII items will most likely have to be sold online only, which may not be good for the chances of seeing anything new.

We may from time to time see new WWII figures released; by Ourwar for example., but i really feel the day of 1/18 tanks is over for good, with the exception of our own mighty band of customizers, PH, Grunt et al.

So the future for 1/18 armour enthusiasts probably lies with those customizers, their own skills, the existing 1/18 tank resources floating around or 1/16.
