New pictures of Auto Art diecast 1/18 Jeep *update 10/27/11*
Some one posted these in a diecast site that I am a mod at and don't recall seeing them here. Do not know when they will be released. What ya'll think?

The straps, cloth seats, and antenna rope are nice touches. No surprise, considering it's from AUTOart. They do great work. I love their Mad Max vehicles.

Looks very good, with nice details.
AutoArt make some good quality diecast cars, so not surprising that their jeep is high quality as well.

I like it . How much will it be ?
Re: New pictures of Auto Art diecast 1/18 Jeep
most of there diecast vehicles are between 100 and 180 so I'd assume it to be in that range.

Re: New pictures of Auto Art diecast 1/18 Jeep
This diecast dealer has it on pre-order for $119 and $159 with the trailer, which looks pretty detailed:

While I was looking around that site, I saw that Norev is releasing one for $59:

Re: New pictures of Auto Art diecast 1/18 Jeep
i'd be more apt to get the norev. Their stuff is pretty good and half the price. $120 is a lot to pay for a 1/18 jeep, no matter how nice.
I'd like to believe this will lead somewhere (eg 1/18 armoured cars) but i think that's just an old man's fantasy.

Re: New pictures of Auto Art diecast 1/18 Jeep
That looks really sweet but what is up with the burlap seats they should be canvas shouldn't they? The WW2 JPW my dad had, came with canvas seat along with all I have saw at re-enactments. The wood on that M1 carbine looks really sweet.

Got some bad news! The MSRP on these will be $274!!!!
They will rot away before I buy one at that price! Even it it has 452 parts!!! Auto Art gets bashed on many diecast forum, and their greed is why!

I'd pay that much if it were 1/6 scale but for 1:18th? That's a bit much. Especially when a full F-14 went for around that much.

Sure wanted one and prolly would have paid upwards of 100 for it but cannot justify 275 for anything that doesnt shoot real bullets ..... Glad I have my Gate Jeep though.

$274!
Way overpriced for what you get.
For that kind of money, you can get a highly detailed 1/18 F1 or Le Mans race car.

Sadly most 1/18 diecast continue to go up in price. Autoarts used to be availlable for 60-80 dollars now most are in the 140 range. Exoto cars are now almost $400 or more.$274!

Re: New pictures of Auto Art diecast 1/18 Jeep *update 10/27
It is a lot of money for a Jeep that is slightly better than 21st century.I rather make seat covers and add seat belts straps to my 21st century jeep.I can get the trailer wagon at big lots that comes with the Power team elite jeep for $17
A fair price will be $100.00
Maybe if it was a Russian or British vehicle i would not mind paying the price.I have nothing against U.S. armor but i already have a the U.S. jeep.
Those seats look very comfortable for my figures

Re: New pictures of Auto Art diecast 1/18 Jeep *update 10/27
Pre order price is $159. Still, a little high with a bunch of 1/18 and 1/16 Jeeps around.
Looks at the pics, I don't see much difference between this Jeep and the Gate metal Jeep. Just the burlap seat covers and they should be canvas anyway. We bought the Gate Jeeps for as low as $5 not too long ago.
1/1 WW2 Jeeps were issued with OD green canvas seat covers and the color weathered to a tan with long exposure to the air.
Nice Jeep but not worth $159 to this guy....

Thats what I thought everyone I have ever saw has had canvas seats. I will always remember before it got sold the 42 jpw my dad bought for our ww2 unit. It had been restored but still had some issues you always had to tinker with it awhile and use starting fluid to get it to go but it never bothered me. Once you got it going it was good to go. I actually learned how to drive by driving it.

Re: New pictures of Auto Art diecast 1/18 Jeep *update 10/27
It is OT but - One of my "rescue" vehicles was a Ford script Jeep, that was a wreck, floors rotted out, every body panel either rust out or punched in. The seats were rotted and crumbling but the canvas was partially present. It had sat in the woods for 60 years when I found it. Mice nests everywhere. I kept it for a year until a fellow collector bought it from me and was happy to restore it.
For the information of non Jeep guys, a Ford script Jeeps are rare. When Ford started with contracts to make WW2 Jeeps, they added a script F stamped into body panels. They stopped stamping script F's into their panels evidentially as a cost measure but Ford script Jeeps are around and EXPENSIVE.

Re: New pictures of Auto Art diecast 1/18 Jeep *update 10/27
i suspect that is supposed to be faded canvas. When using real materials on scale models (which i generally hate) there is usually a compromise in the material used and it usually is the wrong colour and has far too much texture to it.
The real material used on this model, is a total turn off to me. I'd rather have plastic. I wouldn't buy this thing if it was $50.

Re: New pictures of Auto Art diecast 1/18 Jeep *update 10/27
I agree with you, I think that's what they were trying to do with the seat covers. With those and the Price this will be a no go for me. I already have a 21st jeep anyway I will just have to add some stuff onto it. Now if it was a new vehicle that wasn't ever released I could see dropping some money on it to have it. But not for one that has what 4 or 5 copies out there anyway. Also the M-1 Carbine they have with it has some good looks and some bad. I like the way the wood looks on it but the barrel just looks way to big along with the bayonet lug it looks to have they did not start making those until the end of the war or post war and as I have read were never issued in the E.T.O. I actually just spent about $50 on my real one ordering the parts off of ebay to get it to the right style from ww2. The only thing I have left to change on it is find a flat bolt.
