I know what you mean, maybe when the economy picks up and there is more of a steady stream of buyers, they may be able to drop the prices as they find cheaper ways to mass produce these works of art. But for now the high prices for fewer peices has to offset that. I hope this recession ends soon so we can have an affordable hobby all around.

as noted in another thread, the lack of clear window panels on the open windows is another reason this thing should not be the price it is. If they want to price them like collectibles, then they better make them like collectibles and that means more details.

And the stick in the cockpit is still the wrong way round, the crab eye sensors are still missing, well, Pickelhaube will have more customers for his kits!

Well I was gonna buy one in Black, but now I see it's still olive drab, Not interested. And really, I agree.. for the price, there should be some more details.

i dunno.....if you look at the one close up pic there is a black antannae in it and it's way blacker than the helicopter is. It's hard to tell if the Blackhawk is supposed to be some kind of weathred black colour or is just a dark olive.

It would be daft if they didn't paint it black.

As a Night Stalker I'm just going to say I'm not impressed with this at all. 95% of the things that make our aircraft different are not on this version. A black paint job and mini guns do not make a 160th bird. They could of at least done some basic research on the Nose Radar and got that correct.

Check at BBI Facebook and found many negative feedback on the price. Also feedback about how well they modified this helicopter from the original mold of blackhawk. Some user also ask them to add accessories like refuel probe, front and back sensor, etc. BBI response with their message that they will announce extra parts for this helicopter next week. Let's see which parts they will add for this version :?: . Anyway, they still not reply about their price for this helicopter.

Hi, I don't think they will add the accessories same as you do. I also do not think they can do better than you. Actually I will send order to you next week when I back to my country.

interesting response from bbi. I can't see how they will be able to add extra parts at this late date and still have it ready for sale at the due date. Maybe the 'extra parts' will end up being more figures?

Good that they are getting an earful about the price. I know prices have to go up and this hobby is changing and if we want new product we will have to pay higher prices yadda yadda. But ths price is not justifiable, except as an attempt to gouge a bit.

I'm happy with it the way it is, but not for that price and if they are going to charge that price then it needs to be more accurate and detailed.

although bbi set their heli price very high, i noticed that the retailers are getting competitive on the prices. badcat may be offering 169.99, but i found a online store called booming island offering 139.99 last month. it's too bad that they slowly raising their pre-order pricing by $10 each month.

I love this stuff...but its to much to afford at that price...I would even be willing to pay a $125 pricetag...but maybe thats to low to others...Its not like kids are buying these to play with...you think they would maximize there potential in a client base and try to come to terms with a better price..

when i first heard about this bird, i figured it was going to be around $100; then i had to factor in buying about 6 more figures (an extra pilot, 2 window gunners and 3 seals). So i figured about $160 plus shipping. I blanched a bit but figured, what the heck, it'll be pretty cool.

Now it's going to be about $230 plus shipping. No chance i will pay that.

Reading the posts here and on other forums, would everyone have an issue with the price if it were a 1/18 scale Mi 24 Hind?

I ask because if we want to see new subjects with the current market, this is probably going to be the selling price, if not higher, for new 1/18 subjects of this size. Especially where modern jets or even twin engined WWII aircraft would be concerned. I'm sure what makes this price hard to take is the fact that many of us know what this particular model was selling for at mass retail. However, it also makes me wonder how many would be more willing to support it if it was the first time release of a Blackhawk in 1/18 scale?

I'm not trying to defend the pricing, just trying to put things in perspective.

No your right, If it was a hind I prolly would scrounge up the money for it...I'm not going to lie...and I dont think the price is completely out of line...its just to me at that spot where I know I will pass on it because its just higher than I want to pay...I love the 1:18 series have alot of it...but I also collect star wars, 1:72 scale collectable, and various other stuff and its like do I want to spend that much on a black hawk that I will end up displaying or on other stuff that is alot more affordable...I love the look of the black hawk....i wont complain about all the little stuff...but for me...for average middle class Corey with a family and mortgage...i would feel so guilty if I spent that on a blackhawk...I wish I had more money...lol

but it's not a 1/18 Hind. It's a black hawk that has been issued umpteen times (thereby watering down the potential market for a new one) and is not overly detailed or accurate for what it is supposed to be representing. It's ok, but it's not collector quality but has a collector price.

Plus with a Hind you wouldn't need all the extra figures; you might just need one (maybe but they would probably include 2 pilots).

Plus to be frank, i think a Hind would generate a lot more excitement than a black hawk and more people would be willing to save up for it or cut out something else for it.

I went grocery shopping today. My bill was about $7 more than it was two weeks ago. That's a 15% rise in two weeks. The prices of things are going nuts. We're seeing double digit inflation type rises in prices of many things. Oil is only partially to blame....a big part of it is there is a mentality of jacking up prices because people have gotten used to seeing big price spikes (due to oil) so they'll just pay it. Unless consumers start balking it's just going to continue because manufacturers will see the opportunity to get away with it.

Times are tough right now. The worst since the depression. And it's not going to improve anytime soon. I think BBI is smart enough to know that a brand new Hind at this price will sell. They're just seeing if they can get away with a similar price tag on the black hawk, to, as i 've said several times, take advantage of the bin laden raid. I suspect it's going to backfire on them.

I wouldn't count on seeing 1/18 jets for many years. If the F-14 didn't do well enough to justify another 1/18 jet then nothing will. It would even outsell an F-4.
