Yeah, I wasn't even into planes (I have 8 now) until I joined this board as my 'handle' implies. Now I'm wrestling with my vow not to stray from WW2 stuff!

Holy cow!!! And it's interesting that you can apparently order (or preorder, I suppose) now via their website.

You guys notice on the site that they show pics of an F-14 and F-15 in flight? Could this be,...

SUBLIMINAL MESSAGING?~!!?

And the F-86 looks GREAT!! Good work!
Price sounds good too!

I'd so love an F-14 and F-15 in here to compliment the F-18s and F-16! Of course, I'd have NO room for them at all at their size... but I'd buy them anyway and figure it out later :-P I hope the price level does go down a little bit... and I'm curious if we'll see these in stores.

Thats the spirit! I've barely got room either and my parents would go ballistic but hey the things I would do for a 1/18 F-14!!! If we get an eagle and tomcat then we will have the main 4 TEEN fighters of the 1980s!!!!!

(anyone realize we would then be able to recreate movie scenes from top gun, iron eagle, the rock, and air force one?)

woo hoo!!

F86 arrival

Post by supersonicfifi » Tue Oct 11, 2005 12:49 am

8) i was curious yesterday and sent an e-mail to admiral toys sale dept. and a very nice guy named Jason promptly answered me that :

- We plan on producing the Jolley Roger FU-834. It is an amazing aircraft with great history. There is a pilot that will be sold with the aircraft. He will have amazing articulation. Along with your standard moving parts our action figures wrists, upper arm and ankles will also move.

- Delivery to the USA (lucky b_ _ _ _ _ _s) will take place by the beginnig of December but pre order will open soon !

- most important to me they will ship it to France !

They seem to be very nice guys and really commited to their task , they are checking the last minutes changes tha are occurring in producing this kind of stuff but their planning is to be ready for Xmas !

They sent me a nice color picture of the "real FU 834" with the pirate flag and all but i don't know how to include it here ?

anyway you can bet i will be one of their first abroad customers

Well I emailed them yesterday when i saw this post.

I asked about future projects more importantly Armour at 1/18th scale.

Anyway here`s there reply.................

"Dear Jason,

Thank you for your interest.

At this time we are only producing 1:18 aircraft and 1:72 armor. However, this does not mean that we are not interested in producing 1:18 armor. We have discussed it and are very interested.

Being that we are a small company just entering the market means we will rely heavily on customer feedback and your input on what will be produced in the future. Therefore, do as you have done and send us emails periodically letting us know what your interests are. I can tell you that we have counted nothing out. We are hear to produce what you the consumer wants us to produce.

Thank you again for your time and interest,
Best regards,

Admiral Toys Incorporated
""

So it looks like if we can formulate a target within the board maybe we could then let them know. I did also include this sites url in my email to them. So who know`s they now maybe watching to see what we thing?

Been following the thread and that F-86 is very exciting news! The model looks awesome and seems to have all the moving features I would want to have on the plane. I would love to know how it will potentially compare with the future 21c bird and I just might wait for that - since it will be released with a MIG-15 as well.

The question (at least for me) is whether or not to preorder. It is very tempting considering that we know little about the status of the 21c F-86 and Admiral Toys has a painted prototype with expected delivery by Christmas. However, there is the point raised by vulgarvulture regarding the credibility of an unknown company. I would hate to place a preorder and then have to wait until December of 2006!

What's interesting to me is that folks are not questioning the price tag for the F-86. Here a new company comes in with nothing but a prototype and folks are already willing to pay ~$10 more (in comparision with other on-line retailers, almost $20 vs. W-M) than for the known-quality of 21st C. 1:18 planes.

Quite frankly, I will wait to see the 21st version so I can compare features/price. If the Admiral version warrants the higher price, then fine. But something tells me 21st will match it regarding detail and distribute it at a cheaper price.

VV,
I hear what your saying though don`t you think a new company that say`s it`s doing 1/18th aircraft & maybe if there`s a demand armour deserves some positive comments & also leap of faith on the photo.

After all I for one mate do most of my buying purely on the photo,as a lot of stuff isn`t available in the UK.
Add that we`ve seen prototypes from 21st & have frothed at the bit for them just to be left hanging (A10 & Harrier (was that 21st) spring to mind).

Also I`d have thought there would be a Warm wlecome to another US based company doing 1/18th.

I wish we had companies in the UK wanting to make 1/18th more available/make more choices too.

Just my thoughts mate. Save the negatives till someone has one to give a review on maybe?

I hope 21sts is as smart as this one then we`ll all be happy knowing there`s another decent company on the block :D

I for one will wait until it gets officially released before doing anything. For all we know, this whole project could get scrubbed at any given time. I'm patient!

The $60 price tag sounds very reasonable to me considering the relative size of the plane. $40 for a WWII plane and $60 for a larger jet sounds right to me. $86 for the F-18 and F-16 are at the highest reaches I can afford to pay. Were they worth that? Hell yes!!

Gents:

Did not mean to come off as too negative. I'm actually very happy that there's a 3rd player potentially in the 1:18 game. Guess I'm just a bit loyal to 21st, that's all.

There's a lot of great stuff happening in 1:18 and I'm very excited about that and VERY happy that there seems to be no end in site to the flow of 1:18 planes (unlike a few years ago).

Now, if Admiral comes out with a F-4 prototype then they might just become my new favorite company. 8)

Well, I think I am going to contact the tonight and get my name on the list, if being on a list is all that's happening. It doesn't hurt, I think, to take a gamble and show support on this one. I mean, many of the 21st planes I buy I have never seen in person. I have to order from BCA because my Wally won't part with its FWs and Razorbacks at a reasonable discount. Plus, I want this plane so bad I could almost taste it.

I had sent an e-mail to Admiral Toys and managed to find out that the F-86 Saber will be released around the 3-4 of December of this year. I also managed to find out that they will be making WWII aircraft in 1/18 scale. They were not at liberty to tell me what they are yet.

Go get'em Admiral! I won't buy one until I see the quality for myself, but 21st's history of dropping the ball and BBI's sheer company size make me glad another player has entered the market.

Good that 21C will be less than thrilled.

EDIT - Please don't flame
Well, competition is usually good for the consumer, but also keep in mind that 21st Century has been at this business for awhile and have probably worked many of the kinks out of their processes, where-as these guys will be new on the scene, so hopefully the product quality will be up to the high standards they have set for themselves!

The address of this company is listed as Flower Mound Texas. My wife's parents LIVE IN FLOWER MOUND! I think maybe I'll check them out at Thanksgiving. That plane looks great and I want one! 8)
