My Toy Soldier Show Score

Post by Fritzkrieg » Mon Jan 31, 2011 12:09 pm

I went to a local Toy Soldier Show this past weekend. The show is geared towards King and Country and Vintage toy soldiers, but a few 1:18 pieces show up now and then. This year I hit the jack-pot. Here is my haul.

21st 1:18 Winter Panther, NIB (Box is Trashed) $25.00 :D

21st 1:18 Kubel, NIB Box was trashed and one of the front tow hooks was bent. $8 :D

21st 1:18 Kubel, No Box, Mirrors, winshield, or Shovel. $10 Now being repainted, as a battle worn DAK vehicle. $10

Maisto 1:18 Hummer missing Antenae $10

21st 1:18 Sherman and and Winter Half Track, a little dust, but otherwise mint, and the guy through in a Battle of the Buldge Driver NIB, $58 for the lot

I missed a 1:18 Gate Jeep, for $6.00. If I was just a minute or 2 earlier :(

Last year at the same show I scored a 2 cases of 1st issue 21st Vietnam and Germans for $50.

I would love to see what you do with that Kubel with the missing windshield. Mine is missing it's as well and I need to come up with a solution. Great scores by the way!

Excellent finds, particularly the Kubelwagens! I wonder if the winter panther in the trashed box is the one I sold on eBay last year and which UPS lost

Your finds seem to be just the latest in a series of XD finds various board members are making at toy soldier shows, small retailers, hobby stores and the like 8)

I just had bit of a score myself at my local Hobbytown USA store finding a number of XD Halftracks and Pak-40s for under $30, a Motorworks diecast Tiger for $50, as well as an M-48 and 88mm gun for $60 each. Never mind the few BBI Helos and JSI items. I couldn't resist the diecast Tiger and a couple of the halftracks

Your solution is to get a hard top from the Woofer, (the hun)
cut out a piece of clear plastic and make posts for ether side of the window then sandwich it in and wala!!

I came up with a solution last night. I used my good Kubel's winshield to make a template. Then traced the template on some old gift cards I had laying around. Then with an exacto knife I cut 2 pieces the exact shape of the windshield out of the gift cards. Then I measured out the width of the window frame, and cut out the center of each of the card stock shapes. I sandwiched a thin piece of clear plastic between the two cardstock frame and had a nice little windshield for my Kubel. Now I need to figure out how to make the wipers.

I wish I had another Kubel to make a template! Sounds like nice work. I used styrene to make wipers for my Dragon Wagon, pictures are on here somewhere...

For wipers, I used very thin U- and T-shaped brass rod I got from a train modeller and steel wire. Work is going on for my BBI Black- and Pave-Hawk, hope to post some picks very soon.

*jaw drops*

I was just thinking about toy / antique shows ... specifically if these toys were starting to show up, and dang, those are great deals!
