They are still out there!
There is always the talk of the dwindling supply of Panzer IV's for use with things like Pickelhaubes conversions. I have bought three of the 21st RC Panzer IV's off ebay this year, each of them being less than $50. One just sold tonight for $18.58 plus $9 shipping. Definitely qualifies as a bargain. I hated to pass it up but just didn't need another one. Its true I see them all the time on ebay with the sellers wanting $140-$190 for them. But just keep looking and they are still there at very reasonable prices.

Re: They are still out there!
That's a sweet deal. I thought it was a bargain when they went on sale at Walmart for $49 then $25 back in the day.
You know the sellers are taking a hit. I'm guessing it's not good to have your auctions ending right before Christmas when you know they won't ship in time to be under that tree.
I seem to remember them being $99 retail too.

You can still get the "Panzer Like Armor" http://www.eworldtoy.com/1recoelmitaw1.html
Just remove the fenders and give it a repaint and ya got a Panzer IV.

I know but the tracks are a little wanting in detail
But still worth the price. After the first of the year expect more customs for the Mk IV

Re: They are still out there!
A couple months ago, I bought one of the gray short-barrel Panzer IVD/H amagalmations for under $50 from ebay. Considering that it would have sold for $50 had I bought it at regular retail at Wal Mart 3-4 years ago and that it was one of the rare versions of that 21c tank, I felt it was a good deal

The key on ebay is to do creative searches, it takes more time but you will find ones that have been listed without the scale info or without the maker. You will find them on there and they are usually cheap as it is someone who does not know what they have.

Re: They are still out there!
I listed a grey short barrel R/C brand new in the box a month ago and it received no interest. Does the R/C part stop it from being desirable? It is the only piece of German armor I have for I am more into planes, and I don't know that much about them.

Re: They are still out there!
I think it depends on the price as to how much interest one of them gets. As I said, they are on ebay all the time in the $150 range. Don't know why anybody would be interested at that price unless they just didn't have a clue.
Re: They are still out there!
I picked up a Christmas bargain, a Panzer IV grey short-barrel R/C for $41 + shipping. Started at $29.99, me and 2 other bidders. The various other R/C and non-R/C versions seem to go for $45-$60 boxed or loose. It is so random.
As posted above the same $150 list price one's are there every week.

Re: They are still out there!
At first I got really excited thinking, damn, I'd jump at $18.58 plus $9, but then I realized ... WAIT, I bought that one! Though in my defense, it no longer recoils and the seller was very honest to point out that the RC Panzers tend to throw their treads. All too true, but yeah under $30 my Mon Calamari army needs something to counter those AT-STs, and surplus German WWII armor still pack a major punch.hotrodrock wrote:There is always the talk of the dwindling supply of Panzer IV's for use with things like Pickelhaubes conversions. To answer the other question about RC being less of an interest ... no way. In the summer I always take out one or two RC tanks and have them drive around my back yard. When my nephews are around (actually this Panzer IV is for them, I already have one of this version, which I believe is the S4) the tanks again come out.
The question is timing. I only search for "1/18 tank" or "1/18 panzer" about twice a month. There are plenty of 1:18 scale military things I've missed. I'm still kicking myself when I missed out on a lot of the old Porto Play Military One and Police One female figures, including the Marine ... she is near impossible to find.

I counted myself lucky, though I had a pretty high bid on it. I've not seen as many of the S4 until lately.memaddog wrote:Almost came to Buell St.

With the bargains out there, even if you factor in International shipping fee they are close to retail price when originally released.

Yeah, the RC Panzer IVs show up all the time.flyboy_fx wrote:http://cgi.ebay.com/WWII-GERMAN-ARMY-PA ... 4cf3f18331
At even $49 is still a fair price. I picked up my first one at a WalMart for whatever the suggested retail price was ... I think it was $40 or so. I don't regret it at all.
I just search "1:18 tank" every so often, but if people really are looking for them, the panzer-like armor that PH pointed out a few months ago are the real bargain. While the paint job is less authentic, the RC tanks have been upgraded to include a rechargeable power supply *and* come in nice styrafoam packing that will better protect the toy. There is a seller who has a ton of 1:18 panzer like armor for ~$40 including shipping. The seller is very friendly and responsive to questions.
(With respect to the Porto Play question, I'll start a new thread on that subject to avoid highjacking this Panzer thread.)
