Imagine if they just sprung a B17 on us.
Well of course you'd buy it. Price? I'd say $175 - $210 with all the features - sound motors & lights,
Question is ... where would you put it...
Hmmmm. Oh, Who cares, at least you'd have it and you could set it up once a year in the summer. Could be the balancing act for your Christmas tree in mid winter.
Uh-oh - reality - probably not going to happen. I voted for it anyway....
(Deep heart felt sigh!)
We'll Mosquito, B25 , A10 & Avengers
are feasible. Now where did I put that Harrier.....

hmmm
i voted hmmm.
yeah i think it has been discussed before...most any bomber would be welcome in this forum - particularly because this forum is heavily loaded with aircraft enthusiasts. i picked hmm because although big, expensive and downright unmanagable...it would be very hard to pass up just because of that. BUT if 21st C is having such a hard time with the size of the Avenger..ummm..'nough said???

It is the dang toy companies that have sometimes made me want to stop collecting toys!!!
I'm not big on modern aircraft but there were a couple A-10's at the Reno Air Races last weekend. The real ones that is. One was parked next to a B-25. If BBI/21C can do a A-10 (prototype) they could do any of the WWII medium bombers. Sure wish they would consider it. It would be nice to pursue a German 111 or 110 with a Spit or P-51. Then again it would be nice to display a B-25 fending off a 109 or 190.
The arena for new aircraft, vehicles and figures has unlimited possibilities.
BTW if the A-10 ever comes out I'll be in line for one. It's so ugly it's almost handsome (I just can't say it's beautiful).

Well we've got one of the A-10 and F-18. We can clearly see the size difference there is not that great. Have to try and work one up on the B-25 and A-10..... I still think we will see an A-10 in 1/18 scale before we see a World War II medium bomber in 1/18 scale.Jericoeagle1 wrote:There is a project for someone here who has a good photoshop program. I must say I’m surprised that 14 people said no. I realize the expense and size but it would be the coolest XD ever.
On a different note, I just bought myself the ultimate toy. Check her out. I must say i'm in love.....

Medium Bombers
Hey Guys and Gals(??):
Yeah, a B-25 or 26 would be very cool, and I'd defenitely buy it. I just want to see a bomber, period, so that we can put toghether some really great dioramas.
By the way, can somebody tell me how I can post some of my pictures here? Is it possible or is this still being worked out. I think I read something to that effect.
Best regards from sunny Miami.

I would love to have a B-17 in the Memphis Belle scheme. I believe the B-17 Flying Fortress is more recognize by the general public than fighters. Fighters start to blend into one another with the general public. Only if they could make it cost effective, I think it would out sell the Mustang and anything else they put up against it, with size not factored in. All in hope, then maybe we can get a C-47 and Ju-52.

Either the B-17 or B-25 would be great. I wouldn't need all of the extras added, as long as the ball-turrets spun correctly and bomb bay doors opened. $300 wouldn't be asking too much if it came with all 10 crew members.(With working parachutes for when they bail out.)
SIze Differences
Here's the math on sizes...kinda quick and somebody might want to verify these for me...but here goes.
B-17 Length: 49.5" Span: 69.5"
B-25 Length: 35.5" Span: 45"
B-26 Length: 39" Span: 47.5"
A-10 Length: 35.5" Span: 38.5"
All of the above measurements are in 1/18th scale (rounded to the nearest .5 foot given of general sizes in 1/1). As you can see, the A-10 and B-25 are very close in length, but the B-25 has a longer span by 6.5". The B-26 is longer by 3.5" and longer span by 2.5" over the B-25/ 9" over the A-10. The whopper is the B-17 coming in at 4' 1.5" in length and 5' 9.5" in span. Not quite, but close to twice the size of the A-10 in span and nearly 1.5 times the length. SIZE MATTERS!

The 1/6 scale has a cockpit model (I believe BBI F-16), why can't 1/18th have a forward fuselage on a display stand with removable panels? Better yet, two or three display stands for the fuselage sections and the option of attaching the wings as a static or hanging display? In addition to the flight crew, have a ground crew and some vehicles as part of a separate production series?! I know, wishful thinking.
More Sizes
Just a few more size differences....then I'll shut up. Again, all these sizes are quick figures with the 1/1 span and length rounded to the nearest .5 feet. These are 1/18th scale in inches.
MiG-15 Length: 22.5" Span: 22"
F-86 Length: 25" Span: 24.5"
F4 Length: 38.5" Span: 25.5"
F104 Length: 36.5" Span: 14.5"
Although the F104 is already done, you can see how it sizes against the others. The F4 would be 2" longer than the F104, and 9" wider in span, but near the same span as the announced F-86 that is supposed to be being worked now. The MiG-15 just slightly smaller by about 3". If size matters as far as marketability, there is no reason that an F4 (the most popular all weather fighter of it's time) couldn't be done and fit into current boxing and shelves. What do you say guys? A Phantom II in the not too distant future?

Future Projects
Hello There Guys:
First off. Folkwulfe is very correct on the scale approximations, so as you can see, there's no "unmanageable" 10 feet wingspan for the B-17, just a very manageable, totally awsome 5.76 feet.
As for the 1:32 scale B-17, I'd buy one regardless, but it would be hard to mix our 18s with this one particular '32, as the sense of proportion would be hard to maintain.
Speaking of 1:32, I just came back from WM with my very first one. It's the Eagleston P-47, which I must say, is very impressive in its accuracy and detail. I always thought that the 1:32s would be a little cheesey but no more. My hat goes off to 21c for a terrific job.
I just hope I'm not considered a traitor by my 1:18 amigos after my confession. Or will I remain a Grunt forever? Oh my goshhhh....
