Time to Give up on the Admiral Toys Dauntless?
Going on four years now since my pre-paid preorder with MTS. Am I fool to not have asked for a refund by now? Yet the 1:18 maniac in me keeps hoping against hope....
Re: Time to Give up on the Admiral Toys Dauntless?
I did the same thing and still have the preorder for 2. Why cancel when you did not have to prepay anyway?
Even though we will never see these, I'm keeping my order alive

Re: Time to Give up on the Admiral Toys Dauntless?
If I remember correctly, Jason from Admiral (ex-admiral I should say) said that their new POC would come to this board and give us the low-down, then nothing but crickets chirping...
Re: Time to Give up on the Admiral Toys Dauntless?
I would cancel just as a matter of showing that you give up on them. These manufacturers need to get a clue that they can't promise something and not deliver...it's been done too many times, good economy and bad. Cancel the order and the resellers will have to write it off of their books as possible income.
Re: Time to Give up on the Admiral Toys Dauntless?
I just cancelled my order about 2 weeks ago. Mine was prepaid so I had some cash coming to me. I put that towards an F-14 that should be here soon. Even if you decide to keep the pre order, I doubt Admiral will honor the price. In todays market I would expect the asking price to be over $100 easy. It sucks, but what do you do.

Give up on the Dauntless? I have given up on Admiral Toys. As far as I am concerned, I am convinced that AT has gone the way of the dodo...gone into extinction.

Surprised that you had to pay up front for a pre order, Tinman.
Considering we haven't heard anything from AT for a long time now, I think that they are done.If there was any life left in them, I am sure that Jason would at least check in, just to keep the interest alive.

I agree we should have heard something from them by now. I think they are long gone.

I don't think it is fair to say they are done, but many businesses are scaling back or going into total hibernation as a result of the economic climate. What people could afford to buy 3-4 years ago, many of them now cannot afford to buy + prices continue to rise due to inflation, cost increases in China, and so forth.snake wrote:Surprised that you had to pay up front for a pre order, Tinman.

It is quite possible that Admiral has simply put all of the plans up on the shelf with the intention of getting them back out again at some point in the future where they feel that would actually profit from producing a 1:18 scale model.

Fair enough Corey.
I certainly understand your point, and would love to have Admiral Toys "rise from the ashes" in the future.
I just don't see it, but just my opinion.
Re: Time to Give up on the Admiral Toys Dauntless?
i suspect they have gone into stasis as well and will come back one day, if they haven't lost interest....it may be 2 or 3 years.
i never met an airplane i didn't like...

Pre-paying for a pre-order sounds pretty shady, anyway.
Legit sellers/companies almost never do that.

(it was my preference to pre-pay on the preorder. I just prefer to pay up-front and be done with it. Fortunately, this is the only preorder I've done that's gone south)

I think it's more shady when people wanna pre-order, and have that big of a problem about paying up front.Lance Quazar wrote:Pre-paying for a pre-order sounds pretty shady, anyway.

Especially in a world of " Oh I'll buy ten of those" yet these stores still have ample stock of "I want five of these".
I for one want more stores to make pre-orders, a pre-sell too, that way we don't have ton's of backstock slowing the progess of new items. Or online stores un-willingness to order new things.

Re: Time to Give up on the Admiral Toys Dauntless?
I too, prepaid for my Dauntless, but after two years of waiting, I gave up and they gave me my money back. In today's market when an outfit like 21C can go under, come back as AG and that company folds before we see any product at all. I just don't trust any of them.
I spent today looking at Pickel's M-10 kit, with the fine detail one guy can produce, it is amazing to me, a guy with two fat thumbs, what can be made by a talented guy working by himself.... he promises to produce, he does produce and it's worth every penny.
Admiral has produced vg models, it's just sad that problems pop up.
I'm still waiting for the Dauntless, the KT and the B-25, but I'm not holding my breath. meanwhile I will look to Pickel to actually produce new and interesting versions of existing models we already have, or can buy.

Re: Time to Give up on the Admiral Toys Dauntless?
I placed a preorder, but did not prepay, so I'll only get charged when the Dauntless shows up and ships. Hopefully MTS will still honor the original price
At this point, I will still keep the order up for the very unlikely event that AT wakes up from their coma, has the Dauntless all ready to go, and still honors their deal with MTS.

That's sad news!! I'm expecting SBD when announced.
Does Admiral still exist? If Admiral not planning to continue products that the best way to give the mould to JSI, I think!

With a reputable retailer like, say, Entertainment Earth, pre-ordering means you give them your credit card info and they charge you only when the item is in stock and has been shipped.
As opposed to paying up front for the privilege of waiting until the company gets their act together.
I can't imagine an operation that would allow your above scenario to come to pass....
