2 Spitfires

Post by Roach » Sat Sep 04, 2010 11:21 pm

I normally am a lurker and not a poster, but I do check this forum daily. I think I picked up two bargain Spitfires a DWK for $130 and a ZPA for $160 both Buy Now and free shipping on ebay. I have seen both of these planes go for more than $300 and have lost multiple auctions stopping at about $250. The seller has several more aircraft at good prices including a Eagleston P-47 for $120, NKK Spirtfire for $130 and a Galland 109 for $150. All have free shipping. I think these are very good prices. No new 1/18 aircraft will ever be much under $100.

Both of those AC seemed to be in very good condition (boxes that is), so the $130 for the DWK seems to be a bargan indeed and the ZPA seems about average to below average for very good condition as stated. In the end as long as your happy with what you got, that is all that matters. They are both very nice planes and you will enjoy them, I am sure.

I saw both of those and almost pulled the trigger. The DWK for $130 shipped is great. Much harder to find than the NKK which I sold one recently for $145.00 on ebay. The ZPA is also a tough one. The seller has quite a few more planes for sell but those were the best deals. The winter 109e for $70 something was a good deal also and is gone now.

On ebay you almost always get a better price for an auction versus buy it now. This was an exception especially with free shipping. I think this a collector getting out of the hobby. His prices are low enough to guarantee a sale. Most buy it now prices are inflated by 25% to 50% or more.

Those are good prices considering the rarity and current "going rate" of most 21c XD aircraft. Its amazing to thingk that we were paying $40 for these things once and that now we consider a good deal to be $100 and more.

Some months ago I could buy a couple of different Spitfires new in box for 210 Euro, now I regret buying them as the price was pretty good.
