The link SHOULD stay the same. It's mostly moving servers. I'm trying to figure it all out, it's like a big puzzle. Ha ha. Unless someone wants to buy a domain name for us, then I can just keep this server as is and make the new domain point to this server, and I can separate warbird-photos from it (in which I'd have a redirector that would redirect people from warbird-photos.com/gpxd to the new domain)

don't know about domain name cost in the US but what about some kind of board members subscription ?

GP used to ask for an annual donation from members to cover the old board's costs. People would donate a couple of dollars etc and he would tell them to stop once enough money was received..

Perhaps something similar could be done for the domain name? They used to cost around $100 a year, but that's probably changed.....takes an element of trust, so nobody thinks someone is profiteering from it. There maybe some way of setting it up that donations beyond a certain point will be rejected? Somebody will know probably.

Otherwise, P-51, get to work.

I can think of almost nobody currently on this board that wouldn't contribute an annual fee to keep this board in business. I have an extra sawbuck right now just burning a hole in my pocket.

Domains cost like $7-$10 a year depending on where you get them. We don't need hosting... we have this server. Just a domain

I would donate. Over on the 1/18th we tied donations to B/S/T access, that helps open the wallets and keeps the riff-raff out of trades.

Thanks JOC! Let me mull over what's the easiest for the moment. I'm still working on one more section of the new warbird-photos site that's being a pain at the moment (darn IE/Firefox incompatibilities), then it'll be time to decide things.

I registered www.smallscalehq.com a long time ago with this in mind. It's already redirected to the site. Just type www.smallscalehq.com into your browser and you'll end up here. P-51 if there is more tweaking you need to make it work best let me know. Oh and it's already paid up for a few years so no donations needed.

SAG is my second favorite forum. They wanted to raise $600 and in short order received $1,565 from 61 members with different sized donations.
