Corsair Pilot Question

Post by JollyRoger » Fri Aug 20, 2010 5:35 pm

The 21st Century Corsair pilot sold seperatly that I have has VF 17 on his life vest. Does anyone know if they were sold with other numbers? There are 3 or 4 different ones that come with the Corsairs.

The pilots that came with the S1 and S2 Kepford Corsairs, as well as the carded version, all had the VF-17 stenciling on the lifevest. I believe those that came with the other Corsairs and the "Samantha Payton" P-38 also had the VF-17 markings.

The only variation I know of was for the BadCat exclusive "Boyington" Corsair from 2004. That pilot figure, while the same tooling as all the others, had VMF-214 stenciled on the lifevest.

The TRU exclusive Royal Navy Corsair came with a P-38 pilot, I think, but its been a very long time since I saw a picture of one of those boxed.

I just went downstairs and went thru my Corsairs ( I'm trying to collect them all). The Kepford & Bunker Hill have VF-17. The 21st Boyington has VMF-214. The checker nose & tail has VMF-312. I was asking because the checker nose & tail I just got, the pilots missing a foot!
