Which F-104 would bring more $$ if sold??

Post by ww2collecter » Mon Aug 09, 2010 10:53 am

I have the Air Force one(w the shooting star on the tail) and the German one. Both open and on display. I looked around online, and can not really find what they are going for. Any thought?

I agree. People don't seem as interested in the Marineflieger, though I think people are nuts ... the Marineflieger is a really nice plane (and one of the few in my collection that more or less continually rates permanent display).

The f104 was a weak seller and still is. But any USAF will sell better than the German version.
The Canadian brings the least amount of $

21st made a correct tail section for the Canadian 104 (G tail, same tail on the German 104) and I always wanted to see someone do a custom 104 two seater and use the G tail. You can tell 21st was going to do the 2 seater version one day because you can remove the section behind the cockpit and put additional seat in.

The S1 Air Force scheme seems to be the one that will fetch the highest amount on ebay or someplace, though there are currently three on there, all for low prices (meaning under $100).

The 104 is one of my favorite offerings from 21st. I like all the schemes even the Canadian scheme. Actually, the German and Canadian are my favorites. Working on a Greek Mt. Olympus repaint right now.

That Mt Olympus scheme does look cool.

It would be tough to do though.

Yes, it is proving to be tough. I am trying to figure out what order I need to shoot the colors in. I will post some pics in the customs and mods section.

Thought the German Marine one was the rarest?

And to think that there were stacks of the German and Canadian reduced to $20 at several WM. I only bought one of each! :x

I would bet that the 1/18 diecast collectors would gobble up a Ferrari version. (in it's hay day)

It was billed as a special release at first, but seemed to be just as easy to find as all of the S2 and up planes.
