1/16 Pzkw IV...start saving those pennies

Post by Yoxford » Fri Jun 18, 2010 8:00 am

New FOV 1/16 Extreme Metal news just posted at the Motorpool....
Unimax Exclaims, "Achtung Panzer!"
Details have slowly been surfacing concerning Unimax' top-secret Extreme Metal Panzer IV (UNI85060). Tentatively slated for an April release, their first ever 1:16 scale rendition of the Panzerkampfwagen IV is based upon an H variant, which will come complete with removable schurzen side armor skirts, a turret girdle, figures and other accessories. Pricing has yet to be determined so we haven't set a retail price for it as yet, however, we are placing a strong buy recommendation on it, given its pedigree in the Extreme Metal lineage, its scheme, features and dearth of over-sized machines of war in recent months. We anticipate strong demand for this item and will make a general announcement once this item has been cleared for pre-order acceptance. Stay tuned...
The sign of a great model is that one’s eye is not drawn to any one feature, yet one can study it for hours and continually find something new.

YOXFORD:

Thanks for the update. I would have expected/preferred a Panther.

I'll buy two and keep one. I'll wait five years and sell the second one on ebay for $1,200.

It seems strange to me for Unimax to support two scales so close in size, 1/16 and 1/18. In the past most companies used their resources for one or the other ie 1/76 or 1/72, 1/35 or 1/32,1/25 or 1/24.

GROCKWOOD:

When FOV's 1/18 armored vehicles first appeared at Target, another poster who had contacts with FOV said an FOV employee regarded the 1/18 models as "toys". The 1/16 armored vehicles are for the serious (big bucks) collectors.
Until recently, I think FOV's 1/16 and 1/18 armored vehicles weren't sold by the same dealers.
Obviously, there's a big difference between FOV's 1/18 Tiger I and their 1/16 Tiger I, so FOV can market their 1/16 and 1/18 to their respective collectors.
Then their 1/32 models are marketed to every type of collector with good detail and good prices at lots of dealers.

the 1:18 line is really just a line of "toys"

their 1:16 line is a different beast and blows away anything that anyone makes in 1:18

The one thing that's great about FOV's 18th line is the price! Ya want to call it a toy.....I don't give a  ........... The custom mods that can be made from these and 21st's 18th line are almost limitless.

I like FOV's 1:16th line, the detail on the figures and tanks are incredible. For those who don't do custom work this is the perfect option.

But those customizers will have a hard time replicating the interior and engine/drivetrain ;) to me those are the selling points

price ought to be around $350 considerin gthe past releases have been

These FOV 1/16 are really fantastic pieces of diecast.

But very expensive.Even on their release.Tiger I was $450 IIRC,on its release.

I have seen and held one,so impressed with the quality, and weight.

Good to see another one of these great diecast being produced.

Would have preferred a Panther,though.

But I am not buying one anyway.

Well not so. This can be done but nobody will be willing to ante up.

I have both of the Tiger's I and II b. But was not willing to fork out that kind of dough for the Sherman.

Now I CAN'T ARFFORD THIS , THE MK IV.

Damn economy damn oil spill.
Kirk Douglas : Mine hit the ground first
John Wayne : Mine was taller
