Stalin was worse than the SS. Hell, Communism killed far more people than Nazism.

Given pickelhaube's tendency for perfection in his models, I was just thinking that if he is going to make a 1:18 atomic bomb replica, he might as well go the extra mile and make it work! Heck, if the North Koreans and Pakastanis can make a-bombs, pickelhaube should have no problem :P

It would make a nice conversation piece or bargaining chip... a working 1:18th scale a-bomb 8)

I don't make many requests for custom pieces but I'd be interested in both bombs in `1/18 if they had bomb carts to go with them.

Well I am thinking about the dolly here is the loading rack for little B. It looks a lot like my V-1 dolly but smaller

http://www.atomicarchive.com/Photos/Tinian/image3.shtml

Here is Fatty on Tinian. That is a big dolly paw paw.Would this be the one you want ? That would turn this project into a large project. I was trying to keep the cost down by keeping it simple.

I was thinking something like the little dollies they make for static display in so many museums.

Here is the big transport dolly. This was pulled by something like the Dragon wagon. They pulled it on to the pit. Lowered it down. Dismanteled the dolly and jacked it up into the bomb bay.

Can anybody change these into pictures rather than a click on ?

Yes, just a simple cart to display them on would be fine for me.

It would be neat to have a 1/18 b-29, with markings on one side for Enola Gay and on the other for Bock's Car. Then you could alternate which of the two bomb you have dropping from the bomb bay and view it from the side with the approriate markings.

I'd go up to $60 each for a painted bomb and simple dolly.

Considerably more for a authentic dolly.

The $60 is a SWAG, the figure depends on what PH can produce it for and keep him alive.

A working AB would not be necessary.....

Here is Little Boy on a pallet jack dolly. It looks like it has several wheels on the back end of it.

Here is Fatties' transport dolly in action. Looks like a Duece and a half or larger truck pulling it.

FYI - The truck pulling The Fat Man looks to me to be a 4-5 Ton, 4X4 (2DT) tractor made by Autocar and Federal Motor Truck.

These cab over engine were used by the Army Air Force to tow fuel trailers. The huge Pacific trucks had three axes (one front, two rear). So did the majority of transport trucks from CCKW up.

The 4-5 Ton had two axles. The film shows a two axle tractor. Towing capacity was 20,000 lbs.

The larger and very similar 5-6 Ton, 4X4 (2DT) also had a 20,000 lb towing capacity.

As for me, the simple towing cart would be fine for PH's bombs.

Well YT found a 1/12 kit for the A bomb. It is very detailed. I could copy it and reduce it down to 1/18 scale no problem. Heck 1/16 scale for that matter.

I guess I could still do this project in 1/18 scale. I could offer it built or in kit form.

Is there still interest in this project or is this anouncment the death nell for the 1/18th scale atomic bomb ?

http://www.masterpiecemodels.com/index. ... 3&Itemid=6

1/12th scale $75.95 with dolly.

I would still be interested, but it really depends on the price. $65 is way too much for something that looks like no more than about 10 parts.

It looks like about 10 parts in the dolly alone.

I think that I may get this if I make the 1/18 scale bomb or not. If I do it I WILL HAVE THE DETAIL THAT IS IN THE 1/12 KIT.

So is there still interest in the 1/18 atomic bomb ?

While you're at it - I'll bet there would be a high interest in a V2 (black and white check version please)

Pickel:

I am interested in the bomb and cart and $65 seems reasonable to me.

I'm interested in 1/18 scale, not the real thing (just in case anyone is monitoring this site)
