HOW MUCH WOULD YOU PAY FOR A BOMBCAT?
I'm curious to know if their was someone who could custom paint and make bombs for the jsi f-14 how much would you pay for one of these planes? What is the most you would want to pay?

Well I got my F-14 a couple of weeks or so ago and it still sits in the box it came in unopend.
I think all of the prices are way too high.
What is a bomb cat anyway ? A up bombed F-14 ?
Those prices are crazy high. $220 was high for the Spotcat. If a mod could be made to go with the F-14 that would probably be better rather than pay those prices.

TTT
Well, let me tell you something. I had to pay the same in EUROS what you had to pay in DOLLARS for the Spotcat. So thanks to the great European Union and its exorbitantely high surcharges, I ended up paying more than $ 310 for my Tomcat.
Stupid, isn't it?
I know, nobody forced me to buy it, but I just want you to know that you US guys still have it a lot better when it comes to the prices of new 1/18 models.

We still need more new 1/18 aircraft!
I know that feeling Almost considered keeping my spotcat locked up in the vault because of that price I had to pay for it and have it send to Denmarkfightin wrote:Threetoughtrucks wrote:

A "Bombcat" is any F-14A, B, or D that was configured for the "strike" mission. Instead of carrying the typical load out of Phoenix, Sparrows, and Sidewinders, the Tomcat would be loaded down withGBU-31/32 Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) guided glide bombs, Mk83 bombs, GBU-12 bombs, GBU-16 laser guided bombs, along with a LANTIRN pod which has FLIR capability to see anything and everything on the ground and pinpoint exactly where the bomb(s) should hit. The only missiles being carried along with all of those bombs would be the two Sidewinders. Rarely was any other missile carried along with those bombs.
Luckily for owners of this JSI Tomcat, the exterior features are perfect for a Bombcat. It has the NACA gun vents, ECM bumbs under the wing glove and the single one on the front left landing gear door cover, and the bump on the beaver tail out back. Same goes for the Sidewinder rails (LAU-138's).
The only thing left to do it create a LANTIRN pod and some bombs and then choose the correct paint scheme....if one is keeping it as an "A" model. Remember, only those schemes for "A" 's dated 1999 through 2005 would be correct for the Bombcat. Yes B and D models had them earlier (1992-1998). The "A" 's were later in getting all of their retrofit conversions to equip those jets for the bombing rold.

I think that is they showed the Spotcat and put a $550 price tag on it THEY PROBABLYWOULD HAVE NOT SOLD A SINGLE ONE.
The MSRP of $229 pressed the boundries of the most paid for a production run 1/18 collectable.
I have done a few mods in my time. Some VERY PROFITABLE SOME COMPLEET DUDS.
I listen to guys on this forum and for the most part it works out for the best. Sometimes the hrs if not days that I put into a project and sell only a handful is very dissapointing.
When I had a grand notion of doing a A-10 in 1/18 scale I had an OVERWELLMING RESPONSE.
The most asked question was "what kind of ordanance ?" I had talks with other guys on the board about this and everyone said you need to put ordanance on it or it whould not be a A-10.
When you buy a 1/18 scale aircraft you get bombs and rockets and stuff with it.
In most cases you buy yht aircraft for the aircraft not so much for the stuff that comes with it.
So back to the A-10 I was going to make an ordanance package to sell SEPERATE from the actual A-10. This way I could keep the price down for the A-10 a lot of guys were cool with this.
I think you may be going in the wrong direction on this. Make your ordanance package seperate and sell that. There are a couple of guys who are doing repaints right now . You will become one of many who do this. So the comaption is there.
A good paint job is a good paint job. But when it comes down to it the winner ( the guy with the most sales ) will be best paint job for the cheapest price.
The ordanance package I feel will not increase the price.
You may get the price for the pakage only but I do not think that will incease the oveall price.
Does any of this make senese ?

No sadly you wouldn't have a VF-84 Jolly Rogers Bombcat. They were disbanded Oct 1 1995. VF-103 (then Sluggers) the next year took on the Jolly Rogers name, scheme, and traditions. What's interesting is that VF-103 was the first Bombcat squadron, but as Sluggers in 1992, of course flying the "B" model.
If anyone could make resin conversions for "B" 's then one could have Jolly Rogers or Pukin Dogs, or Red Rippers, or Be-Devilers bombcats to add to the "A" Bombcats....JSI's exterior is exact for a "B" save for the GE engines.

after finishing one bomb i can say that vacuum form sucks! cutting out these parts takes time and patients, let alone doing more. i may do alot more custom repaints to sell on ebay than do bombcats. bombcats will take alot of time, hours, patients, costs. so i will only do them for ebay at a rate of one a month or as i please. after today i most say the price may go up even more, so if you want one i hate to say you will pay the price. as for the quality of these bombs i will say i think there okay, i think the gbu i done today looks very toyish. i plan on doing other bombs however and will post pics in the near future. will post more pics of the trial bomb soon. i may also try doing a custom service for forum members in the future, but i am a lone man right now, or to say a one man company and i'm yet to produce a tomcat, but soon!
