POST ALL JSE F-14 QUESTIONS AND DISCUSSION HERE
what about rubbing the spots with really fine grain wet and dry sand paper? That may fade them a bit, blur them into the surrounding paint, cause the light grey underneath to bleed through a bit and make them look more like weathering and less like dots painted all over the plane.
i never met an airplane i didn't like...

I'm hoping that someone/whoever will make a new topic thread with just the JSI F14 Modification/tip/tricks "spot solutions" or named whatever. I guess many of the pre-orders will be getting in next week so people will probably start experimenting, we just need a place to keep a log of what has been tried and how it looks/works.Ta-152 wrote:That's what i was thinking.aferguson wrote:what about rubbing the spots with really fine grain wet and dry sand paper? Badcat blog update:
Update on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at 10:32AM by Bad Cat Rob
Our first batch of Special Edition Lighted 1:18 F-14s arrived today and shipped back out to their lucky new owners. We have a second batch coming in on Thursday. We opened one box up to take a look and the airplane is extremely impressive, I must say. Wow. In my opinion, echoed by the rest of the crew, the dreaded spots did not seem to be nearly a flagrant as they appear in pics, fans at the WOH show have posted this same observation, also. To my eye, the aircraft looks really nice . . . and I see a lot of collectible aircraft.

I've been trying to get that answer for a month now and can't get anyone to "fess up." I've posted on several forums and emailed Merit and JSI. The fact that they won't say probably mean it is not a "limited" or small run.dragon53 wrote:Has JSI announced the actual number of regular F-14s that will be released?
My guess is it is at least 2000 if not more (maybe 3000). If this is the case, I don't know that it will be hard to get - especially if the spots don't get "cleared up" in later batches.
The special eds, however with 250 will probably be a "collector's" item spots or not or silly WOH XMAS 2009 on the side. I've seen some compare the 1/18 runs to 1/72 releases in terms of the market begins to be saturated around 1500 or so. But, 1/18 also includes the GI Joe crowd which is hard to estimate, I'm sure there are those out there ready to repaint to a SkyStryker version (I'm not a GI Joe nut so excuse the spelling if it is incorrect).

PCOUGHRAN:
I don't know about the economics of the JSI F-14, but I'm curious if the predetermined, actual number of F-14s have already been made---or are they still making them now. If they are still making them now, they might reduce the number actually produced because of the many cancellations and negative responses to the spots. If JSI does reduce the number of F-14s released, then it might actually become a truly limited run---because of the spots.

Where can one get the lighted version
I think I came late to this party, but I am wondering if there are any of the lighted planes left. Any ideas where to get one. I preordered one but I think it is the regular version. Appreciate it.
