POST ALL JSE F-14 QUESTIONS AND DISCUSSION HERE
On a positive note...
I'd like to start doing some customization to the Cat once she arrives (other than repainting the whole darned thing). But things like:
- Repaint face curtain handles
- Adding Seat belts
- Add step detail
- Pick out cockpit details more
Just some cool added features we can do. I think we can all agree that some of us are disappointed, some are not. But why don't we start some positive threads about customization? There are some great scratchbuilders around this forum and I'd love to hear or see input and projects once we get the Cat.

I'm not a terrorist or anything nor do I support their government but I'd love to see an Iranian Tomcat. Just very unique and a very historical point in Iran-US relations that we actually trusted these guys enough to sell these to them.
I would find one of those very interesting.

Nothing wrong with that. Wasn't the North Korean Mig quite popular? We still are their enemy.Coreyeagle48 wrote:I'm not a terrorist or anything nor do I support their government but I'd love to see an Iranian Tomcat. Nazi planes are a different story, they are gone (essentially)

True. I was thinking today, the F-86F was very well received by the fandom, and it had no weathering at all. Every time I stare at mine it never fails to impress me. It's got a skillfully applied paint job, and this for a plane that dueled in MIG Alley, so if anything is going to be weathered, it would be an F-86.But anyone with eyeballs and a brain has to admit that these spots are well above and beyond the normal QC and accuracy issues we are used to dealing with in this hobby; and yet while there have been many complaints there have been many positive comments too.
Yet the models weren't and they still look pretty damn fine. That's proof that something doesn't need to be weathered to look pretty damn good. I prefer weathering but only the kind we saw on BBI's F-16, JSI's Corsair/Lightning, et al.

HERE? In my experience, most of the folks here get along well, very well actually. Sure we all have different preferences when it comes to 1/18, but this place certainly never came off as hostile to me, and most of the conversations I've seen have been relatively peaceful.I disagree. Historically, this community has proven time and time again that nothing makes it happy, no matter what the companies do. I know several people who also collect this stuff that refuse to join here because of the less than constructive conversations about the pieces.

i think the picture is a bit washed out looking, whether accidentally or intentionally, to make the spots less noticable. Which it does.
But they are still spots and they are too regular all over the plane, not splotchy and random like weathering. Every couple of inches is a new spot.
Unless a solvent can be found to easily disolve them so they can be blended in better, there is not much saving this plane except for a major effort with an airbrush.

Yeah the new shots look like there is a LOT of light involved, via flash. It does look better but I want to see it under normal lighting.

These look like the same photos as before - too much flash or something. I downloaded the bottom one, opened in MS Office Picture Manager and clicked on Autocorrect - wala, the spots were worse. Guess we're just going to have to wait to see one in person or assume they are as bad as GH59s pics of the special edition.
"Where's dat waskily wabbit?"
