After my return from JAPAN , I ve talked about the dream shop in TOKYO presenting the HPH models (
viewtopic.php?t=18711) but I almost forgot to speak about an intereseting kit that I saw at the local press agent.
Each week you can buy a small magazine including pieces to form this interesting metal kit :

I think i'ts possible to order the whole lot at this site :

That's all I got at the moment : you can use a web translator because it seems that there is a Forum of builders concerning this model on the site !
some went to polish the proppeler to get a super rendition ! it's a lot of work ....
i think if you watch the film that it's neat

That zero is a current weekly series, each week a new book with a new part(s). If the prices per book set stays the same with exchage rate etc you're looking at right on $1600 (less shipping from Japan!). The first books went out Aug 15th this year and each new book set will run weekly for 100 weeks. Kit is designed directly from Horikoshi's original bp's so that's cool.

Not sure on previous book set backissue availability, these are pretty popular in Japan.

Well that kind of sucks. The $1600 price tag is expected, but I'd hate to run around the net, trying to look for the rest of this series.

Its a matter of time before we see them here in the US, 5 years or less and much cheaper, due to a higher production volume.
One thing I found out in the past few years is that many model companies are looking at doing exclusive metal kits in teh 1/15 and 1/16th range.

Captain Wild Bill Kelso: My what?

Sadly, probably not. Japan is known for very small production runs of toys and garage kits.
Some company might make another 1/16 metal Zero fighter, but I doubt it will be the exact same model.
That's why I'm kinda bummed that this model is kinda like a gashapon toy, that you have to collect all the pieces instead of buying the whole set outright.

Exactly. Now I wouldn't be surprised that once the series is done that a few complete sets show up on ebay, most likely via a Hong Kong seller. But, that's at least a year and a half away. One thing I like about going to Japan, all the stuff that can be found there that one could only dream about here, Hong Kong is a gold mine of cool stuff too that will never show up here.
