Here we go again?

Post by LeChat » Fri Oct 29, 2004 4:29 pm

:? Will this show up in South Carolina in 7-10 days like they used to (in the good old days) or 3 months later or not at all like they have lately. Only time will tell. That is part of the fun. Did I say fun?

More Pictures

Post by Bruzzer » Mon Nov 01, 2004 3:40 pm

Hi All,
Since there hasn't been anymore sightings I figured I'd give you guys a few more photos to build the anticipation.
I took the plane outside and took a few pictures and the scheme looks great but the quality is medicore. Lots of dings, dirty spots and what looks like glue on the tail seam. Its still the best looking P47 I have.
I threw in some more shots of my hobby room, its still a work in progress.

Toy Room

Post by Bruzzer » Mon Nov 01, 2004 9:26 pm

Thanks for the comments on the room. I moved in in July and I got the seperate back room. With so many planes now I'm still going to run out of space.

Nice pictures of the USS Hornet as well! I spent the night on it in 1999 with my old Boy Scout Troop, which I was an Assistant Scoutmaster in at the time. We slept in the portside berthing room next to the AA gun, ate in the messhall, watched movies in the pilot briefing room, and got to sit in the F-6 Crusader's cockpit. Your pictures bring back memories! The museum was just getting underway when I was there and it looks like they've added alot more planes, including that F-14!! Did they ever finish restoring the TBM Avenger? The WWII submarine USS Pampanito at Fisherman's Warf in San Francisco is also well worth the visit!

BTW - is that a new US pilot with the Bubbletop P-47, or is it the same as what came with the Razorback? Also, how does the cockpit compare with the old P-47? Thanks!

Bubbletop Pilot

Post by Bruzzer » Tue Nov 02, 2004 4:58 pm

The pilot for the bubbletop is the same only he has the worst looking mae west paint job I've seen yet. I should take a picture to show you guys. Also a black streak across his face. It didn't come with any of the pilot accessories either, oxygen mask, parachute or pistol. I had that happen before.

As far as the Hornet pictures that was about a year ago. There's 1 pic of the avenger in the 4th group. I think it was complete? That was my 3rd trip since its been a museum and everytime it looks better.

More Cockpit Info

Post by Bruzzer » Tue Nov 02, 2004 5:33 pm

Sorry got wordy forgot the cockpit info. Same cockpit but there's about 1/2 inch open gap between the edge of the front windshield and the instrument panel. Razorbacks have the fuselage covering this. It appears to have the same overal dimensions with the razorback, its hanging so measurements are tricky.

Great looking room! Hopefully we can all aspire to have more space to display our Planes, etc.

after that last post I had to go see if that were true! Sure enough you can see the little fella just off the left of the photo. He is just sitting there... taunting us. As if to say so what Im in this room with all this military junk and there isn't a dang thing you can do about. Crazy I tell you. I looked hard to see if ther might be more prowling about but he appears to be working alone. Do you think he might be a scout for a larger task force? Is the hobby room just moments away from an ambush? Or is he there just for the Coyboys football helmet prowdly displayed on the shelf? I tell you I feel for Buzzer. I once had a Garden Gnome problem, I don't know if trolls are the same but those garden gnomes are Damn Mean! Good luck Buzzer. War is hell!-

I'm glad to see the Ebay listing, at least it shows the Bubbletop is available in more places. When you see new stuff posted on Ebay, it's only days before showing up at many W-M.'s. "It happens every time".

It's up to $81. Things haven't changed a bit. If people would open their eyes and find this forum, they would save a buttload of cash just by waiting for the plane to show.............

Yeah, IF they show up at a WM in the buyers locale. It's all about how bad someone wants something. I've paid alot for XD on ebay and so far all the ones I've paid alot for have yet to show up in my area! So it doesn't bother me and don't know why it would someone else. But I must say DUMB is the bidder who has the high bid at $103 on a BBi Blue Angel in which the seller A) stole the pic right off BC's site as it has their logo on it, and B) seller mentions BC in the listing. Now that's a dumb buyer...check the website goober that the seller mentions, $75 plus shipping!!!!!!!! :D

Yeah I guess e-bay is a great way to go if you don't have any walmarts around. I live in the valley of walmarts. I think I have like 18 stores all within 40 min. of my home. I always find stuff eventually without the need for high priced e-bay. I have had to get help from fellow members on older outdated versions (-thanks digger!)

That's the irony, I'm in the heart of WM country with the HQ just down the road. The WM across from the HQ never had an XD offering until the 190's! But I'm an impatient collector so I'll hunt for awhile then it's online time! :D

eBay's not always the best deal, but I guess it does depend on what you local Wal-Mart has in stock!

My rule with XD on ebay is don't spend any more than you would hope to get for the product from a small retailer, including shipping! This doesn't always work well, especially if its a hard-to-find piece, but when it does there is usually a little less strain on the pocket-book.

Xd on eBay goes through an evolution of sorts. At first as demand for a product is high the price is high. Later as they show up on clearance shelves all around the country the bottom dropped out. Some planes never dropped lower than $40 but that is still a pretty good deal if you can't find it locally. For some, eBay is heaven sent. Just have to be patient and not buy the first ones out. :D

does anybody have any idea what the other bubble top p-47 schemes are going to be? I am really hoping for gabby's ride. They did pappy's corsair so perhaps gabby's might be a option? Any thoughts?

You would think they would do Gabby's plane eventually. It would be almost criminal not to. I just hope to see the bubbletop here at all........ :(
