is the new JSI BF-109 paint scheme boring???

Post by AMERICAN_GRENADIER » Wed Sep 16, 2009 2:28 pm

I was looking around the JSI website at the new Stuka and BF-109 pictures. is it me or is the Bf-109 just so BORING! no kill markers or nose art. it looks like they rolled out of the factory. unlike the Pappy which has loads of details. the 109 isnt worth buying. does anyone know if these are final production photos or will there be changes? the P-40 is alittle better. i sure hope they will do alittle better with the new paints. i sure dont feel that the cost of the 109 is worth that low quality details.

They did the same thing with the Tiger I.

No Balkenkreuz, no turret/barrel number.

No mg-42, nothing. Just a tank with some camo.

The JSI ME-109 is an early-war Battle of Britain-era scheme. It kind of pre-dates the more elaborate German cammo schemes by a couple years. Historical significance aside, I already have two 21c ME-109Es (Galland & White 12) which are schemes I like better and thus will pass on this new one as well.

While I do understand the logic behind offering repaints, I've just not been all that excited by the JSI offerings so far. (Well, I almost was by the P-38  )

When 21st re-released the Panther #332, some people complained since they didn't like to have multiples of a tank that have the same markings.

By releasing a a tank that has no balkenkreuze or any numbering, you're free to portray your Tiger in any front, or in any Abteilung. And you don't have to worry about color matching and painting over the existing markings.

And besides, 21st's past Tigers' markings aren't exactly historically accurate either. :D

Do you guys think BBI will release their BF-109 in new paint schemes one day? I really like that model.

Well at least it is an E model.
The paint scheme, and lack of any markings at all, leave a bit to be desired.

Hopefully just a pre production shot.

Hopefully with some weathering on it. I do like it though. It looks a lot like those Hispano Suiza 109's paint in the Battle of Britain movie.

Isn't the canopy wrong though? I thought it had more window panes in it?

Yea screw the people who've not bought one yet, we all got ours. Lets keep these airplanes 'our little secret'. Yea, that's the ticket. Make them build only new versions with all new tooling for us "true" collectors.

Come on guys, how do you think JSI is going to fund all these nice cool jets if they don't sell something else? Yes, we've seen them all but a company rarely does well if its got only "one" item for sale. Who is it hurting if they recycle 21st's old molds? Its a great way to build quick capital. Like someone said before, use your imaginations and turn them into different versions and if you don't like them don't buy them.

The world doesn't revolve around discriminating collectors. Let the kid who wants just a nice cool airplane have his day. When I was young all it took for me was to buy a soft plastic Hellcat molded in cheesy yellow and I was hooked. I didn't care if it wasn't blue or contained the correct amount of rivets. It was fun and I had a lot of cool adventures flying it off the carrier that was my dresser top way way back then. Lets give everyone else whose not had a chance at these a way of having their own form of fun.

So quit your b____!

I don't really care which repaints they do, as long as they are repaints it's something new to keep it alive.

I just wish JSI would have at least gotten some input from the fans for the regurge Lightning.

"Putt Putt Maru" is the last scheme I would have picked. Even I, a supercollector didn't buy that one the first time around.

the problem is that JSI is trying to appeal more to the collector not the kids. they doubled the retail price which puts it out of the reach of most kids or parents who want to take a chance on an expensive toy his kid will break in a couple days.

i rather like the scheme, being it's a battle of france/battle of britain era. Not every plane has to be flashy.....by far and away most weren't. It's not like every plane on every side during the war had elaborate paint schemes, nose art, kill markings etc. 99% of them were plain janes.
i never met an airplane i didn't like...

"make your own" is no excuse - lousy schemes are just that. After all, the paint schemes are one of the reason people buy these things. Leaving out figures and MGs may be an understandable cost saving measure, but putting no effort into new AC schemes is asking for trouble imo. JSI is really pushing it at all angles..

I might get one since I missed all of 21st's E models. But god forbid JSI, start including some damn pilots. Sheesh...

I have the F-14 on preorder regardless of pilots. But come on.

From JSI's description (http://www.js-int.net/airscraft_60005.html):

"Historically accurate printed markings and placards that won’t fade or peel like decals."

That is, unless we decide against actually including with our products any of these annoying historic details that detract so much from the customization potential of the model... Because surely if we don't include tampo-printed markings, they won’t fade or peel like decals either. And, besides, who needs a finished display model out of the box when you can add your own decals which, wait for it, will actually fade or peel like the decals they are...? (Hope it is not all Chinese to you, because it certainly ain't to us).

See? We got it all figured out. Especially the price point.

Sincerely,
JSI

Let's see...judging from the stuff JSI has released so far...

F4U Corsair: paint looks damn good, compared to past 21st offerings.

P38 Lightning: Just as good as 21st's.

Tiger I: No markings, but the paint job's much better than past 21st's Tigers....

OMG JSI IS OUT TO ROB US BLIND!!!! HIDE YOUR WALLETS!!! WAAAAHHH!!!

You guys don't like *one* aircraft paint scheme and you're ready to hang JSI by its heels? Way to focus on the negative guys.

JSI brought out a great-looking Boyington Corsair and Putt Putt Maru, for a relatively affordable price, considering if they hadn't released these aircraft, the only way you could get them is to hope to see one on Ebay at a not-too-outrageous price.

And you'd rather judge the company based on a stock photo of a single model that JSI hasn't even released yet?

Wow.

And does anyone even know if JSI has the molds for the pilot figures?
