This is a good question . Resin is plenty strong enough but it does need to be reiforced.

I will have spars in the wings , rods in the rear stab and I will probably have to put rods in the landing gear to make sure that it will hold up. I am also thinking of putting some spars or a keel into the fuse.

At 38" long it will need a little help for stiffness.

Resin is not as strong as injected moulded plastic. But if you take the right precautions it will do the job.

I will make my desction on Tues after my meeting with some potencial painters Monday nite.

This will be a costly project on my part. I will be asking for deposits before I get started. That way I will not be wasting time and money for nothing.

But be advised once started if anybody backs out I will gladly GIVE BACK THE DEPOSIT.

PAY-PAL WILL PROBABLY BE THE BEST WAY TO GO WITH THE DEPOSIT ISSUE. THAT WAY YOUR MONEY IS SECURE AND EBAY DOES NOT PLAY. THE SELLER IS AT THE DISAVANTAGE

THAT WAY YOUR MONEY WILL BE SAFE AND YOU SHOULD HAVE NO WORRIES.

This project will be going were no XD'er has gone before. :D :D :D

Again if this does happen I need to finish the M-10 and do the Sdkfz 222. I would say that will take about 4 weeks maybe less.

So this could see the light of day either Oct or Nov.

All comments or input glady accepted

Matthew,

Count me in for one A-10 if it's fully painted & only requires XD type assembly.

Matthew:

This is how they have them painted

I actually have a 1/48 decal sheet with their markings I could probably scale up and do the decals myself if needed. Or someone could easily scale the decal sheet up.

I'm very interested but don't know if I could do a deposit right now, but I would surely be interested in buying one. Very cool!

I have been checking some injection moulding companies to possibly do this project. Just for laughs.

Well it would cost about $50,000 on the low side to make molds for this. My area only.

The sales person told me. If I wanted to make about a 8 " ruler. The molds will cost aprx. $7,500

If it were a 16 " ruler the cost would be $10,000.

So with all of the componds curves, panel lines and what not $50,000 - $100,00 will not be out of the question.

So this will be ruled out. No pun intended.

Last nite was a semi bust. The guys I talked to think that 1/32 scale is big.

Some of them never heard of 1/18 scale. So , I do have some painting skills. I just do not like to do it. So I guess I will have to bite the bullet. I have some other feelers out for painters and I feel good that I can get this worked out.

What I can do is offer the A-10 painted or unpainted. So you all can have the best of both worlds.

S-1 WILL BE THE LIGHT GRAY TIGER SHARK MOUTH OR WARTHOG.

I can do this in either template paint or decals format . Of course with correct squadron numbers.

So as it goes I am about 85 % sure this will be a reality :D :D :D

In the past I have made some items and had dismal sales on them. They were not even worth making because some of the guys who wanted them vanished. That is the reason I will be taken pre-deposits BEFORE I get started on this. I will be in the whole for at least $1,000 - $1,500 for R and D.

So est. cost will be:

$250- $350 unpainted

$ 350- $550 painted. S-1

These prices are a guess. I hope to not exceed them . But with fingers crossed I will try to get lower.

That being said when I am ready to start. I will need 10 deposits to get started.

I will also take lay - aways. 1/3 down will get you in and we can work out a payment plan.

I know some of you need to see the finished product before you anti up. But the way things are going at this time I can not come out of pocket on this project. And I need reassurance of sales on this before I start on such a LARGE PROJECT.

So there it is guys. :D

Let me know who will be in on this . I need to know because I need to order supplies and start getting my ducks in a row. You can either post , PM or contact me via e-mail. Here is my e-mail:

[email protected]

Thanks,

Matthew

Pickel, I think your price and terms are more than fair and I wish you the best with your A-10 project. I'm sure you will produce a fine product and make many here on the forums very happy. I don't have the cash at this time but I look forward to seeing your progress and maybe picking one up down the road.

Have you considered using fiberglass for the fuselage and wings? It may be cheaper then resin. Thats the only reason I'm holding back for now. I've never had much luck with resin. I'll have to wait and see what the prototype looks like.

Well so far there has been 5 guys who are willing to anti up to get this project started.

I NEED A TOTAL OF 10 TO GET STARTED.

There are several who are waiting to see how this is going to look . I do understand that but I will not start this project until I get confirmed deposits . ( when I am ready to take them )

It is simple once I get started if you are not happy with the results I will remberce your deposit. No problem.

So if this project is to be a reality . It is up to the board members.

FYI I have yet to sell a single one of my creations on e-bay. I do think that I could get more money for them if I do so. But I build these things and charge as low as I can so the average collector can afford them.

Again this is a forum exclusive so far . It will be up to you guys to get this rolling.
