JSI Stuka

Post by P47faninchicago » Fri Jul 10, 2009 5:40 pm

That Stuka that is being offered for preorder by JSI is sure an odd choice. Wasn't that paint scheme produced near the end of 21st's reign? I still see them languishing in my local toys r us. The pappy corsair and the p-38 make sense because they haven't been around for quite a while but the stuka is all over the place. I would be surprised if that one does very well. Maybe I am mistaken and it is a slightly different scheme.

The paint sems to be a little darker. With a heavy hand on weathering.

I wonder if they are going to have factory aplide swatikas ?

Stukas being all over is a relative point of view

None at my local TRUs, though one is indeed languishing at my local Hobbytown USA store.

The 21c Rudel Stuka had the code T6-AD and the StG 2 insignia on the cowling. The JSI one has different lettering T6-IR and the same unit insignia. It is not Rudel's aircraft, but from his unit. Overall, it is a good, standard Stuka scheme and gives one the chance to build a Stukageshwader 2 squadron (assuming I got Rudel's unit correct...).

As I have Rudel's Stuka, I have little need to go for this next JSI release either... Now to wait and save for the F-14.

While I like the look of the original Stuka, it took me about 30 minutes to get the wings on ... and I've worked and worked and can't get them off.

This means I've never assembled the others I've bought and I've been hesitant to buy more.

Is JSI retooling the wings a bit?

All of these planes are great when you take them out, but if you can't put them back up ... the rest of your planes are less likely to see the light of day.

aplide?

applied.

That's a good question though. Since these aren't going to stores there would be no reason not to apply them at the factory. Certainly there will be decals, if nothing else.

I have the Rudel stuka too and love it. I have 3 other stukas on top of that (one of which is going to become a cannon armed stuka G thanks to Pickelhaube's fabulous conversion kit). Anyone who hasn't got a stuka i highly recommend it. Great plane.
i never met an airplane i didn't like...

Yeah, the new Stuka is from VII/StG 2, i believe under Major Pressler.

This, along with not being able to get the air crew in without removing the lower legs, is something i never got.

It's hard to get them back off, but all it takes to get the wings on is a bit of elbow grease.

Ahhh, so the tiny little decal says TC-IR rather than TC-AD. Well, count me in! While your at it, throw in one of those Apaches that is identical to the other apaches except for the tiny, nearly invisible, 1/4 inch shark mouth. Who says 1/18 lacks variety?
