The Definitive BBI Thunderbird Thread.

Post by Bryce » Fri May 29, 2009 6:25 pm

I know we have had a number of these before, but I wanted a final word on the subject. Is it an absolute certainty that it is not coming out for any reason? Might it come out if there is enough intrest? And what about this one http://www.heo.com/Elite-Force-F-16-C-1 ... i01156.asp ?

A german dealer I've been communicating with still expects these late summer. That doesn't mean they will arrive, only that he has the ability to order them for for that expected date.

I ordered one in a shop in Germany and my order has been canceled a month ago because BBi canceled the Thunderbirds.

Does anyone know,or thinks they know, the reason, that these are still not being produced.
Is it a question that BBI have not cast anymore F-16's.The have the molds already. They would be a big seller,if any version was produced.
Is it that BBI is having trouble with the complicated, high gloss paint scheme.
Or is it the economy. They don't want to spend money on ANYTHING new.
Any ideas.Anybody have any "inside info" on this.

Someone in Germany on another message board said his F-16 Thunderbirds pre-order was canceled, too.
It appears the "Enduring Freedom" F-16 might be released in June according to a couple of German dealers I've seen.
One of the SSHQ posters said he contacted BBI about a spare part for the F-16 and was told another F-16 was going to be released and then they might have the spare part available---which might be the Enduring Freedom.

I sure hope we see another run of the F-16.
Fred, really looking forward to the JSI 1/18th scale Grumman F-14 Tomcat.

I saw a comment on the board here somewhere that the BBI F-16 was somehow off-scale. Is that true? If so, by how much and in what direction -- too big, or too small?

Too big IIRC. I think the wings, not nec. the length. Someone will remember.

YES! I would love a Thunderbird F-16. Last year the Thunderbirds were here for an airshow, and I got awesome video of them flying what seemed right over my house. I was running all over the yard filming those F-16s. There is nothing that sounds as awesome as a military jet!

Really? Where do you live? I live in Cheyenne, Wy and they do fly right over my house during Frontier Days. As far as "nothing sounding as awsome as a millitary jet" Id say you must never heard a Top Fueller before.

I keep hearing conflicting reports, some etailers say it a total cancel while others say it's only "delayed". Who knows, hope it comes out but like beltfed said I'm not holding my breath.
