My Finnish-ed pickelHawk 75A-3
I figured since Matthew made this as a kit and isn't a one of a kind this would be the appropriate place to post. After months of debate on what scheme to do I decided finally on a Finnish scheme. I had Vex (jackson) make a custom set for this but out of the set I only used the rudder "2" (using the decals on another project) and all the rest of the insignia are painted from stencils I made. I used a 21st Stuka pilot and repainted him to reflect gear worn by Finnish pilots. I added a few details ie. brass nose guns, iron sights for the nose, the rear spider sight actually has cross hairs, and the antennae. I noted alot of small scale models always show a very soft edge camo but in all my research and I have several books dedicated to the Finnish air force all the Hawk pics I saw were distinctly hard edge so I opted to give it a mild hard edge not discernible by my lousy quality pics.
I chose an aircraft that started out in French service that was captured by the Germans and sold to the Finnish. This aircraft was attached to HLeLv 32 based at Nurmoila on Olonets Isthmus May 1944. It also reflects the field applied black camo pattern.

The gray one looks cool.vmf214 wrote:Actuallly all the Hawks delivered to Finland by Germany arrived in total Luftwaffe livery as they used them themselves. Below are a few examples:
I have never built one myself. I just made the kit. How hard was it to put together ?
What was the most difficult part ?
How long did it take to build ?
Please don't slam me too bad
