Most expensive country to have your models sent to

Post by snake » Fri Jun 19, 2009 3:03 am

Being in Canada I pay more for shipping than my friends in the US.
Add to that,Customs, and "brokerage fees" by UPS,and Fedex.USPS is the best option for me.

I know personally that shipping from Britain can be very expensive.

The members in Australia, and New Zealand should have lots to say on this.

So my question is;
"What is the most expensive country to ship too,or ship from?"

Yes it is all relative. Early in the year a CD=$1.31USD now I think it's about $0.90. The Euro has been kicking our butts for the past ten years.

I don't know if I would say USPS is the "best" option (maybe cheapest), especially with some of our models worth hundreds of USD!!!

I remember when the Euro first came out it was $ 1= .70 for the Euro.

A buddy of mine made THOUSANDS OF DOLLAR by buying the Euro. That is another story.

The most I have spent on shipping was to Spain and Belgium. For a box to ship in the US was $8 for the same box it was about $36 to go over seas.

The most expensive for me was shipping a 22 pound box to Australia. It cost $127 to ship it. Not to bad cosidering its the other side of the world.

Ups and Fedex were almost exactly twice as expensive.
Is that you John Wayne, this is me!!

i have shipped small packages all over the world. It used to cost the same, no matter where you sent it. Now the most expensive countries are eastern europe and russia, israel, and south america. The cheapest are the EU countries, other than the US of course. It only fluctuates by about 15% from cheapest to most expensive, though.

If you're in canada you might as well forget shipping anything over 2kg to anywhere other than the US. To any other country costs a minimum $130 by airmail. Totally laughable. An American can send the same size package to anywhere in the world for less than $40.

So how much does it cost to ship to the US. from another country? Any tarrifs here?

I've shipped figures all over the world. Lots of worldwide people like the cheap envelope First Class shipping, but they don't always like the more expensive Priority International.

I shipped a Monogram 1:48 PBY to Australia and it was somewhere up past $40.

Customs paperwork is the only pain in the butt though.

Usually, shipping from USA to Europe is pretty cheap. Even if I had to pay my birds almost $150 each shipping incl.
The most expensive post is to me the British post (very expensive, poor service) and the less is Australian post (pretty cheap and never had a problem with them). I collect lots of stuff including 1:43 high end collector cars and I buy from everywhere in the world.
I also live in France.
USPS has a good service, good prices. Must take insurance but it is just a few bucks.
You just have to deal with custom taxes from time to time (approx 1 on 10).

Tankduel would also be able to add a view point here. I mostly deal with 1/18 aircraft and the shipping usually costs the same as the aircraft. Assuming the average aircraft comes in at around US$45-US$60. USPS is usually pretty consistant so it only really depends on what the seller charges (evil sideways glance towards MD).

I have to back AFerg on this.

Shipping anything over 5 pounds from Canada is ridiculously expensive

I tried to return an item over 2k[5 Lbs],to Britain, and it was going to cost me $110!

Canada Post is ridiculously expensive.
Fedex, and company, are only slightly higher, but they offer 5 day delivery, and all sorts of perks.

Canada Post is worse than Royal Mail!

Canada Post seems to be so expensive, that I have seen Ebay "power sellers",go to the US to ship!

Anything over 2kg[5 pounds] is ridiculously expensive,to ship internationally.

Saw a recent post on Ebay, where a local seller stated that he would ship from the US once a week.

Canada Post is so expensive, that he is willing to go to a different country to ship!

Something seriously wrong with this picture.

Yes air is expensive, but more importantly every item sent to me (over 400), have all arrived way down to Adelaide South Australia and that takes some of the pain away of the cost.
