. 30 mg in 1/18 scale

Post by pickelhaube » Sat Jun 20, 2009 5:38 pm

Does anybody make the .30 cal air cooled MG with the swing mount that works on armor like the Stuart tank in 1/8 scale ?

it's the 21st 1/6th scale RC one that came out years ago. I wish they'd done a 1/18 version as well...

Well that is the one but the swing mount. The 1/6th Stuart ( that you have pictured) mount is wrong.

They do sell the correct swing arm in 1/6 scale .

But I am asking about 1/18 scale has anybody done one?

Here it is.

Has this been made in 1/18 scale ?

Sorry Pickel but the 1/6 Stuart shown by Centone is the correct mount for the 21C Stuart which is an M-5 Stuart. The pic you show is for the earlier M-3 version of the Stuart.

BTW - In combat Stuarts mounted .30cal OR .50cals either in AA mounts or in improvised mounts on top of the turret in front of the commander for fire against infantry. They weren't designed from the factory like that but pics show mg mounts for all kinds of mg's all over the turrets, even water cooled .30's.

The 1/6 M-5 Stuart has long been very popular with 1/6ers, still available for dear prices. I have three. Most 1/6 guys have at least one one and they are such great fun RC toys many guys have more than me.

They are fun. Believe it or not I have 15 of the 1/6 Stuarts.

At one time I wanted to do almost all of the variants but have only done 1 and a half so far.

I wanted to know about the .30 cal for some up and coming 1/18 projects.

I sure know about projects that get put on the "dust catcher shelf" or the "I'm gonna start that someday shelf". Three years ago I started a conversion of a Stuart into a M-4 High Speed Tractor to pull around one of my 155mm Howitzers and I got as far as removing the Stuart body and my ADD got distracted and there it sits. Don't even mention my M-3 variation or the M-8 Howitzer or the turretless recon tank..... someday...
