There's a 1/18 B-17? I've seen that cockpit model, but never a full size 1/18 aircraft?

Does anybody watch the Mythbusters? On the back wall they have the props for Top Gun, a Tomcat and Mig(f-5), they look like 1/18.

I think that was a Fairey Swordfish in Sink the Bismark

Didn't they also have a PBY Catalina flying boat in there? I think there was one in Midway too spotting the ships.

Lots of inaccuracies in Midway. There were no Hellcats then, and the few Avengers that partook were from the island squadron not carrier based. But what you going to do when there's not enough Wildcats, SBD's, and no TBD Devastators?

I think Jamie was the one who came up with the vibrating rig for the cameras and the rockets on wires to simulate the missles. Through the tinted lenses, the effects looked so real the Navy was peeved, thinking more than the agreed number of missle shots were done...

DAUNTLESS:

I watched the SINK THE BISMARCK dvd a few weeks ago----there was a PBY and Swordfish---but I didn't list them because I thought the original poster had only 1/18 models in mind.

Yeah kind of a vague thing. How can anyone even tell if a model prop is 1:18 scale?
Whatever huh?

1:18 movie props

Post by PanzerArm » Fri Jun 05, 2009 12:28 pm

I think what he was going for was which movies have the same aircraft as those that are available in 1:18 scale. What Bryce said about the f-14 and f-5 on the wall of the mythbusters set was just a comment on some movie props that might be 1:18. IMO they were bigger than 1:18, but no one can know for sure (unless you know Jaime and Adam personally lol).

Yeah, that's what I meant. Sorry for the confusion.
