Over the past couple of weeks I kind of did my own experiment. I had a few of my good friends point out which of my models they like the most. Now all of these guys are airplane nuts, and everyone picked my 21st Century ME262 Nightfighter. I have to say, I agree with them. This is the in my opinion the ultimate 21st Century model. I just never get tired of looking at it. It captures the beauty, as well as the power of the 262 so well. I love this model!.. :)
Fred, really looking forward to the JSI 1/18th scale Grumman F-14 Tomcat.

Yes, I like this one a lot too, fred! I ended up getting two of them, one to display, and one to keep in the box as a "back up." It's the only XD I've done that with.

I might feel different if I saw one in person, but I've always thought the 2-seat 262 was kind of "kludgey" looking. Somehow the lengthened cockpit ruins the unique and elegant lines of the bird for me.

For sentimental reasons, my BBi F4U has become my favorite.

I did the same as Tinman. I just bought one for display while I am here in Turkey, and my other one will stay in the box back home in North Dakota. As soon as I saw it, I felt it was the pinnacle of their work. Little did I know they were already on their way down at this point!
"I can stop collecting 1:18 scale anytime, really I can. OOoh, the new Stuka re-paint! I don't have that one.

My guess is th JSI 1/18 F-14 will give the ME-262 some real competition in the "standout" category---IF the model is as impressive as the PR photo.
