Here's a place to start, keeping in mind that wiki is notorious for being subject to personal bias.

highly expensive and highly advanced avionics at the time of the A variant...

first use of all titanium wing box...

one dropped in the drink in '75 leading to a mad scramble to raise it before the Soviets...

varying sources state Iran has about 13 operational A's and their inventory of phoenix missiles have been updated with replacement hardware - all remaining F-14A hardware in the US has been/is being destroyed in reaction

Here is the F-14 expert:

PS---Last week, Kelly McGillis (the one draped on Cruise's shoulder) confirmed the long-time rampant rumors are true---she's a lesbian.

Kelly McGillis today:

Man she didn't age well.
The mind is the limit. As long as the mind can envision the fact that you can do something, you can do it, as long as you really believe 100 percent.

Looks like the F-14s aged better than she did. What about the F-14s in Iran, I think they still fly?
Fred, really looking forward to the JSI 1/18th scale Grumman F-14 Tomcat.

IFLABS:

The photo of McGillis is 1-2 years old, so she probably looks even worse now. I read an article which said while filming TOP GUN, McGillis' gal pal was in constant attendance. She also supposedly had an affair with co-star Jodie Foster while filming THE ACCUSED.

I have seen Top Gun a hundred times, does that count for anything?
