I'm generally a cranky not-so-old fart, so I'll rant a bit about my biggest Ebay pet peeve:
I NEVER bid on anything with a reserve. If you know the lowest price you're willing to take on an item, then START THE FRIGGIN' BIDDING THERE. I ain't wasting my time otherwise. When I want suspense and mystery I'll watch a darn movie, and no, I really don't care if there are any perfectly good reasons for setting a reserve price in an auction.

Now pick up your *#%@&* baseball and get the @#%$&* off my lawn!

A reserve ranks right up there with bidding on an item to have it closed early and not for sale any more. There is always with a nice reason published, but most likely sold to someone that offered "$$ to sell it to me right now". I like free enterprize to enable people to make the most $$ they can, but I hate being lied to.

If you couldn't guess this has happened to me 2 or 3 times in the last 6 months.

It's no deal if the reserve is set way high.

Amen brother! I don't bother bidding on reserve auctions. They are simply a waste of my time. I agree that any auction should start where the seller cannot accept anything less. Many times, it's pathetically high anyways....

You guys obviously haven't ran across something that you wanted bad enough. But I agree, a reserve is stupid and it should start at what you will take for it.

Another thing ebay needs to change. :?
