P-38s

Having finally snagged a P-38 on eBay, I should be satisfied. Naturally, I'm not. I got the California Cutie, which is OD. A number of the bare metal birds are coming up today. Is there some major distinction among them in terms of quality, rarity, etc.?

The number one distinction is personal preference. The 'metal' S1 is probably the least rare, and with a decal is accurate. Sam Payton on the other hand, is not an accurate scheme but still looks nice. Personally the Putt Putt is my favorite 'metal' P38 and the Haleakala II is my favorite OD - they are both very accurate schemes and look great.

The most rare P-38 is probably the "QVC exclusive" though I don't think it is any nicer than the others.
