I have some questions about the planes that 21st C has made. I'm wondering if the 1st series Stuka is accurate and what area did it fly (like the winter version was in Leningrad)? I have some more that I would like to know who piloted them:
P-47 Thunderbolt checkered tail version number 17
Spitfire D-Day 4Q, also what is the story of this plane? I thought I read some where that it was piloted by an American, but it has British markings?
winter 109 devil head and shield with 5+~
Thanks for any help. I can't find anything on the web. Then again I might not be putting the right things into the computer.

I can help a little, but hopefully boardmember Teamski will get on eventually. He's quite good at finding out this sort of information!
The 1st series Stuka is not an actual aircraft and bears markings, I believe, from two different units. (Thats too bad as it looks so good!)
Not sure of the checkertail P-47's pilot, but it was from 317th Fighter Squadron of the 325th Flight Group, based in Italy around 1944.
The spitfire was from VCS-7, I think, and was used by the US Navy as an artillery spotter during the Normandy invasion.
As for the 109, the shield identifies it with III Gruppe of JG-54. The 5 shows that the aircraft was #5 in III Gruppe. The ~ symbol is a ranking symbol, though I'm not sure which rank it corresponds to... There was a thread on the old GPXD site that had a link to a site that explained German aircraft markings.
Hope this helps!

Hehehehe........
Mowan,
All of the information you need is in the Profile Album on my webshots account. (Just click the website button below and check them out) I currently have 43 XD airplanes profiled and if it isn't in the Profile Album, it isn't accurate!
Tman is correct about the S1 Stuka. The Shield is from Stukageschwader 77 while the A5 marking on the side is from Stg 1. The 2 other inaccurate schemes are the British Corsair (fictitous) and the Blue nosed P-51 that has the over-all scheme (with a fictitous nose art of a 21st employee) of the 352nd FG while lettered for the 4th FG. Don't ask why they did that, it's rather silly.
A couple other anomolies:
The first Checkertail P-47 and the S1 P-38 are both missing their nose art. The Korean Corsair is painted up as a F4U-5, so using the XD Corsair is stretching it a bit. The Winter 109 should be a F model, a good profile of it is in the album.
The Checkertail's pilot is unknown.
The German Markings website is mentioned in the reference forum. You can get the URL there:
Finally, the Black 109 is in the Profile Album. It is a BF-109-4, not the 109-7 shown on the picture. Pilot is unknown.
