Hellcat Vraciu v. Cosair Daisy June

I'm thinking of purchasing Alex Vraciu's Hellcat. I hesitated because this plane seems to kinda look like a Cosair, very very roughly. Yet on closer look, the Hellcat's size and lighter blue hue has me that much closer to purchasing another plane. Does anyone have these two planes? Can you post a wing tip to wing tip photo, top view, of the Vraciu Hellcat and the Daisy June Cosiar? I want to get a confirmation from your opinions to see if the two planes do look very different from each other when placed next to each other. Also very much appreciated would be tips on good places to purchase Alex's Hellcat. Thanks a lot

I dont have the ability to post the pics, but I can tell you that I have both of the planes. Both are them are outstanding in their own right and representative of both models. I would certainly get both of them.

I have the F6F Catmouth (not Vraciu) and the F4U Daisy June.
Both are great models, and I recommend both. The big difference is the Daisy June doesn't have the folding wing problems of the F6F.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't recall ever in my life thinking that a Hellcat and a Corsair looked similar.

I like the weathering and detail on the BBI Corsairs a little better than the 21st.

The Hellcat, where else you gonna get a 1:18 one?
I have Vraciu. Like it a lot. Prefer it over the cat mouth one. though I want that one as well.

Same here, completely two different birds. The Corsair is probably the most beautiful aircraft of WWII to hit the skies.

I think I'll have to agree. As kids my cousin and I became Corsair fanatics way back in 1976 when the Baa Baa Black Sheep series began its run.
I remember reading something about children being easily imprinted mentally, so its very likely that I really don't have any choice in the matter. I MUST LIKE CORSAIRS EVEN IF I DON"T WANT TO LIKE CORSAIRS!

I love the Black Sheep Squadron show. I am still waiting for the 2nd season to come out on DVD

Must agree the corsair is my favorite WWII aircraft.

The Hellcat would have been a big hit with me but the wing folding mechanism really put a big dent on the overall awesomeness. I said f-it and left the wings folded up.

IFLABS:

My BBI Hellcat's left wing locks into the flying position fine, but the right wing constantly flopped, so I used Krazy Glue to lock it into place. My Daisy June doesn't have the floppy wing problem.

The P-51 is my favorite World War II fighter. I've got four 1/18 Mustangs---BBI's Cripes A' Mighty 3rd, Donald Duck and 21st Century's Big Beautiful Doll and Petie 2nd.

I'm planning on displaying all my Corsairs, Hellcats and Avengers with the wings folded anyways. Otherwise, there wouldn't be enough room. I can always bring them down off the shelf and put the wings in place.

Both the "Daisy June" Corsair and the "Vraciu" Hellcat are winners in my book. They are most certainly NOT the same, given that each represents two different types of planes. The basic features are the same, but then they are for nearly all 1:18 planes

I have since sold the Corsair pictured to another board member as I prefer the BBI S1 "Marine's Dream" Corsair, but "Daisy June" is excellent as well, and represents an actual WWII aircraft. The BBI Corsair, incidentally, is one of the best 1:18 WWII planes in my opinion. BBI simply replicated that plane right in my book. The quality on all BBI planes is top notch and usually superior to 21c, so you should not be displeased.

So go with both

I've got literally hundreds, maybe a thousand, photos of planes & tanks I use as reference---including some of yours. If I get the opportunity to buy a model I don't currently have, I will have photos of what they really look like---as some official PR photos usually make the models look better than they really are.

So thanks for posting photos of your models. They come in handy---like for this thread.
