A modern SF, Afgan conflict style, custom.

Post by don » Thu Oct 28, 2004 9:23 pm

I havn't seen too many people posting thier custom figures. I would love to see more of that, so here is one I made today.
The body is, obviously, a BBI army figure. The head is from the star wars figure, General Crix Madine. I had to trim, not just the neck peg, but the width of the neck down to the peg, because the neck was way too long. The ammo pouches on his chest are from another BBI figure (who is now wearing casts of them). If you look close you will see that the radio handset on his chest has been moved from the left chest of the figure, where it was part of the figure mold, to the center of the chest. I did this by carefully slicing the handset away from the chest and then covering the scar with the little tan pouch. The drop down pouches on his left leg are made from a BBI belt, I did glue a strap for this around his inner thigh. I also painted the ammo clip on his M4 black, as I have never seen a tan clip. (I noticed BBI is doing that on thier new marine figures.)
I would love to hear what you all think and I hope to see your customs soon.

:D
I like your concept and you actually beat me to the puch since I actually bought the same Star Wars figure yesterday afternoon and i was going to do some custom of my own. But my idea is based on the camouflage body. And I'm also planning on using the Luke in Dagobah to do some custom work.
Your figure looks really cool, realistic and if it was sold I would buy it!
By the way, thanks for the neck information. I would like a litle more detail on how to do it since I want to experiment with it too!
let's keep on chating!
take care,
HOOAH!

nice work, looks really good, where is the helmet from? as for customs i have quite a few, but no digital camera, and i'm to lazy to take regular pics and find a scanner somewhere. anyone got thoughts on a remedy for this other than fighting the laziness and finding a scanner?

As an example, here are a couple other SW heads I have been working on. I included the uncut original heads in the shot, on the left, for comparison. (They are sitting in sculpy so I could get straight shots.) The asian is the head of the SW Bespin Guard figure and the black guy is Sam Jackson, as Mace Windu.
I threw them onto BBI seal figure bodies, but plan to use them on desert uniformed figures.

Oh yeah, and the helmet pictured in the first post of this thread (also worn by the asian in this post) is the helmet that came with the BBI desert recon buggy.

Hello guys,
Based on the concept of this figure, i made similar figure since I had already purchaased the Star Wars figure. hahaha!!!
Any ways i wanted to mention that personally i found that I did not need it to cut or trim the neck. The Star Wars figure head fittedd right in. I may just have little bit bigger neck but to me it is not really visible; instead the figure looks really good and just like a Delta Operative.

Let's keep each other posted with custom notes, take care,
HOOAH!

ps: How can i post i picture of my figure in here?????? let me know, thanks in advance.

75th,
You will need to host you photos somewhere else online. I use www.photobucket.com because it's easy and free. You will just need to set up a user ID there. Once you upload your images to photobucket there will be a web address for each photo. You then use the Img button to post it in a thread here. Hit the image button then paste your image address, then hit the image button again. It should look like this:
