Actually, if Admiral Toys were to do this Midway SBD correctly there would be faint remnants of the striped tail visible under the repainted tail. Take a look at this authentic only surviving SBD from The Battle of Midway

Also there would be a faint red dot in the middle of the star. More like pink.
The white doesn't show up as bad, but my experience with painting cars and other things is that red and other bright colors will bleed through everytime unless a "bleeder seal" primer coat is put on first.
This will happen with modern paints as well even today. Painting over red with white without a primer coat is a no-no. No matter how many coats of white you put on, the red will seep through.
Looks like when this SBD was restored they managed to cover the red dot completely, but authentically left the faint tail section stripes as you would expect from the Navy repainting these in the field.
So yeah, we should get a Coral Sea version, repainted in the field (or on the Carrier) to a Midway SBD to be absolutely authentic.
I wonder if Jason knows this?
