By all means cut up the R/C. If you want to think resale the yellow w/ green stripes is twice the price as the R/C.

Yup, I didn't know that till I was checking to see what each one of mine was worth.

I guess you can't put figures in the RC one right?
(I haven't opened mine yet, it's buried somewhere in the garage)

Customize the RC one. There's more value in the other one.

I may be lucky enough to use a non RC to do my Wirbel as I have some spare yellow w/green stripes.

As far as figures go they'll fit in the yellow / green stripes panzer. Due to the guts in the RC Panzer you can only put half a figure in each hatch.
I'm not interested in resale value so on this custom I would use the bi-cast (metal/plastic) panzer. All you have to do is remove the turret and replace it with Pickelhaubes Wirbelwind turret.
Now if your going to cut up a Panzer I'd go with the all plastic RC version. I did a custom Panzer IV/70 and a Brummbar and the only ones I had at the time were the bi-cast...metal hull plastic turret Panzers. You need a new hacksaw blade if you want to cut the hull! The plastic hull is much easier to worh with. Good Luck.

To be historically correct, and also to use the best panzer IV, you just have to remove rails from the yellow/green stripes and that's all.

I had them on sale to board members for $85. The Wirbelwind kit is now selling for $125. At $85 it ws a steal and to tell you the truth I sold many of them but I really did not make money on them for $85.

I sold about 26 of them to board members and sold 4 of them after my blow out sale. I still have a lay away waiting  They are still available. PM me

Gut the RC Panzer. As for not being able to fit full figures, all you have to do is remove the tubs underneath the hatches(hull and turret).

Image

You can see my Ausf G in the back. I cut the trench coat off right around the waist to get the commander to sit lower in the cupola.

One of these days I'm going to fill in the armor holes in both the G and F1 and pull the tubs from the F1.
If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Then quit. No use being a damn fool about it.
