Funny.

Post by dandaman » Sun Jan 18, 2009 8:58 pm

I think it's funny that people in this forum were like, "I'm not going to bother buying IJ Russians at the marked down $3 price...I'm going to wait until they're down to a dollar."

Yet, they were the first ones to fly off the pegs at the $3 price. Good luck finding any now. :x

Another strange thing that I saw while I was at a WM were 3 unopened boxes of IJ figures on a cart and the store had at least 25 figures in the clearance section already. Go figure.

Russian IJ figs still making an appearance. Picked up two more on clearance at Target for $3 each.

I'm sure there's tons of cases in circulation yet... I've not seen any Russians or Cemetary warriors. At this point those are the only figures I'd like to get on clearance. Army builders and custom fodder galore there, but alas they're not common anywhere near me.

I did score a softtop truck cheap though, so I cannot gripe much. I've made a lot of IJ purchases and should be pretty content now for a while.

A little O/T question, but is the skull face of the cemetary warrior removable? Is there a full face under it?

The mind is the limit. As long as the mind can envision the fact that you can do something, you can do it, as long as you really believe 100 percent.

I saw one last week, but someone had stolen the Vogel from it.

In retrospect, I wish I had bought it. $5 for 2 Germans and a Henry is still damn good. (the Indy figure, sadly, is useless.)

Clearance

Picked up the last of the Indie single pack figures for $1.38 at target. Walmart is still at $3.00 for the singles, $5.00 for the Adventure Heroes and $7.00 for the deluxe. TRU is $4.98 for the singles. Bob

$1.38 is a great price for a single fig...but that's not happening in Targets around here, no stock.

Why is it so difficult to find the Elsa and Vogel figures?????? Is this something hasbro does often?

Rylau, you guys still have the tiger I?

The Last Crusade wave got semi-limited runs... Much more than the TOD figures, but definitely less than any other figure in the line before it. Indy, Henry, and Yougn Indy all got a little better production run than Elsa and Vogel... Vogel's at least available in that multi-pack too. Elsa though, tough find.

Elsa's and Vogel's, and the Grail Knight (who I would wager is probably the rarest TLC figure) all showed up at TJ Maxx stores, however most stores had 2 of each figure, and some didn't have Vogel at all. Your mileage may vary.

TLC got a pretty average run of production I'd guess, maybe a little light and definitely less on those latter figures, however the TOD figures are actual rarities. Hasbro didn't really do anything different, it's just that the Indy line tanked completely, and Hasbro cut production once they saw no hope for the line. A whole wave of figures never even got made but pictured. Talk about a tease. :( Toht even had a melty head.

INDIE

Post by Rylau » Thu Jan 29, 2009 8:45 pm

Normandy; I go to 4 Targets on a weekly basis and never saw the Tiger at all. Hackensack,N.J., Palasades Mall and Clarkstown Rd.in Rockland Cty. and the one in Monroe. Jesse the Vogel, Grail Knight and Else figures were available in decent quantities mostly at TRU on Rt. 17 and Rt.4 in Bergen County. Else seemed to be the least available. Bob

You folks are lucky you've spotted those elusive figs. I have never seen any of them anywhere in my AO (Northern, CA).

Yep, no rarer figs anywhere around Stockton-Tracy-Sacramento-Davis-Vacaville-Fairfield in Nor Cal.

Target marked their Indiana jones figs down to $1.74 (some targets are at $1.99). Picked up a couple german solders and 1 russian (finally found one). Some targets are essentially sold out of all figs. 1 Mutt at one store tonight, 3 mutts at another. I guess at less than 2 bones even the Mutts will go.... (good riddance)

I finally broke down and bought a Mutt Williams IJ Figure- for 1.00!
Yes, one dollar!
My local WM had just a very few left at this price.
Got a couple of the Cario Swordsman.

Anybody have any ideals for a custom figure using the Rene Belloq figure in robes?
They had several of him, but I don't know what you could use him for? :?

You could try to recreate the actual (historical) procession of the Ark. That's what I plan to do. I don't like the Belloq head though. I plan to swap it with Sallah and make some modifications. The Ark bearers (4 of them) could be comprised of a mix of Salahs, Cairo Swordsmen, Cairo Thugs, and even a Monkeyman (if they had eyepatches back then).

I was also wondering how accurate Cairo Thugs would be in a 21st century display. You know, fighting against FOV GIs. I suppose you could arm them with AKs, RPGs, and other modern FOV weapons. Has anybody tried this yet? Or do they look too 19th century?

I actually thought about picking up a Mutt figure. But even at $1.00 I think that's too much.
