Thanks for the heads up!
I ordered two SS sets earlier in the evening. I had been wanting one for some time but just couldn't bring myself to let go of the cash, but at that price, that's insane!

I put an order in tonight for 2 and some other junk... I'm not sure why but at that price I couldnt' pass it up, even though it's not a set I was really geeked about buying. It's a nice set though with how it's packaged and all, it's just that you'll inevitably get some stares if you show off your collection and this one's prominently displayed, haha.

Oh, and use that USPS shpping guys... Pay my salary, please. :)

Seriously, the USPS is just hurting like everyone else these days. Contrary to popular belief, your government dollars do NOT go to us. Only buying services, stamps, etc. pays for the USPS to stay in business, so their rates are going to go up just like Fed-Ex, UPS, and the like. Sorry guys... Lots of people are about to have their hours cut too due to route evaluations, which are insanely unfair to the little guy(s) that get the mail to you, and at one of the most stressful blue collar jobs. Sucks for sure.

Not if shipping via USPS, those bozos just raised their rates, yet again! For example, a flat rate Priority box went up almost $6.00, so if they are in fact dealing with USPS, and it's priority or express, or even standard, USPS also hits you heavy for oversized boxes, and I can tell you from having sold 12 1:18 aircraft over the past 3 weeks, the boxes to ship the planes in original packaging, depdending on the csr, is over that limit, and it's not based on weight but rather combined dimensions of the box.

Yea my dad worked for the post office for like 25 years, or somthing like that not sure, but over seas and up to Canada shipping with ups is like 3 times the cost of usps on average. NO REALLY

well even if it went up $6 that would make it around $30 to ship an xd plane.....not over $50. The UPS rates were lower but still way too high.

Getting pretty tired of huge prices on shipping and goods because of that very temporary spike in oil prices....only way to fight it is to refuse to pay.
i never met an airplane i didn't like...

Jesse,
Sorry to hear you are having a tough time. It is sad that because someone can't use common sense to loan money to someone who obviously can NOT pay it back - effects all the little working people of our country and even around the world!
I have a 24/7 post office by our local airport. I use it all the time.
USPS is still cheapest mail service anywhere in the world!
YEAH FOR THE POSTAL WORKER!

WOW!
Most of the 1/18 is almost GONE!!!
Who is buying this stuff up?
Small Scale HQ members only?
Or
Bad Cat Matt for his "private collection"? :?

WOW!
Yeah, I almost got one of the Avengers last night -but 21.00 bucks in shipping just killed it for me.
I got 2 of the SS sets instead.

I'm not having a tough time per se, the USPS is... Mail volume's in a massive decline due to the digital age and it goes down more each year supposedly. I just work there. Routes are getting hours cut though and evaluations start in about 2 weeks or a little more, looking for more cuts.

There's absolutely no benefit to the USPS employee to ship anything btw... No perks there. Our perks come from other things such as discounts on cell phones (20% off your bill, which is nice), and the like. Though that's even been cut back as you used to be able to get some discounts at restaurants, but that's dried up. USPS is still cheap by comparison though... It's not oil prices either, it's decreasing mail volume.

So I say to all you guys, go online and look for any and every free sample thing you can find, and get it mailed to your house. You're keeping your mail man/woman employed doing stuff like that. Plus you can get an insane ammount of cool free stuff if you look around on the net. Even just peruse Wal-Mart. It's shocking.

Im glad lots of board members got a piece of the action. A friend over here put me onto it. I didn't buy anything because the post to NZ is a real killer and the $NZ at only 52 cents US at the moment, besides one SS set is enough for me anyway. The same friend however told me he was moving and didn't have room to display his XD planes anymore so he's basically giving them to me, so I did get a nice surprise too!
