100% for sure bbi has made a 1/18 Hind. No pics but it was done for sure....just never released. BBI showed publicaly a styrofoam mock up of the A10 but that was it. As i said i saw pics of the production prototype and it was most impressive. In some of the pics a guy was holding it so it wasn't some small scale model i saw.....it was a 1/18 scale A-10, with gobs of ordnance.
i never met an airplane i didn't like...
here's a link to the Hind i was talking about: scroll down about half way.

It's at least 30 inches long.....i'm waiting to hear back the exact size. The guy isn't big on answering his email.
There's also another one i've found that is about the same size as well....it won't be released for a few months yet. I'm trying to find out it's exact dimensions too. I may end up getting the larger of the two..

Couple of inches longer than the Apache, and huge everywhere else.pickelhaube wrote:I know. They may have made the prototype but I think that is it.VMF115 wrote:Scuttlebutt said they had a Hind years ago as well as a an A-10....
That Hind would be huge. Probably the biggest 1/18 scale aircaft to date.
Definitely don't see it coming in the current environment. It'll probably share the fate of Joe vehicles back in the old days, prototyped, but just too costly to go into production.
I Tan I Epi Tas
ok i heard back from the maker of the hind that i posted above. It's 34 inches long, so pretty good. So about 1/19.4 scale by my figuring. Should be 36.7 inches to be exact 1/18 scale.
Here's a picture of the other one i'm looking into (scroll down). Still don't know its size but it is probably around the same.

Argh. Wouldn't you just love to slap the Target marketing puke that made the call on that one.It was offered to TRU last year but they didn't want it because they were committed to the Power Team A-10 and didnt feel they needed two.
Boggles the mind, it does.

Now I have a machine gun (SPACE GUN!). Ho ho ho.
not Target.....Toys R Us marketing puke. And it wasn't an either or decision. They had already committed to the Power Team A-10 as an exclusive, when BBI showed them their A-10. They simply felt they didn't want two different versions in their store.....which i can sorta understand. It was just very unlucky timing.
But maybe in a few years...

Yeah, sorry Aferg. My mistake. I'm normally much better at reading comprehension and proofreading. At least I got the first letter right...
I guess actually having too much knowledge of a subject makes me biased in this case. I never considered the Power Team A-10 to even be in the same universe, much less product class, as the offerings from the 1/18 companies such as BBI, 21st, Admiral, etc.
I guess I really can't expect a random employee of a large toy retailer to know the quality difference of two toy airplanes in this case, but I'd sure like to educate them on it.
Perhaps with a little negative reinforcement...
That's just me, I guess. The wife is always telling me I'm a bit too judgmental.

if anyone's interested, the CH-53 pictured here:

is going to be 33 inches long. So, 1/24 scale....it will be about the same size as the blackhawk. I'm not sure if i'll get one or not. I'd love to have a super jolly green but boy...
