Today? Christmas Day!

Post by aferguson » Tue Dec 16, 2008 9:48 am

Had a Christmas come early thing going on today. My F-35 and F-117, that i've mentioned on here, both arrived. Both are very nice. The foam qulaity on the F-35 is excellent with barely a visible texture. The F-117 has excellent detailing but the foam isn't quite as nice and from close up you can see some texture and tiny pits etc. Not a big deal at all, however.

Both have a rudimentary molded in cockpit, which is nice. Clear, well done canopies and good decals.

Overall i'm very pleased. :)
i never met an airplane i didn't like...

Speaking of Mosquitoes. Ok, so you weren't, but its in your sig line. I know you have an interest in them. Watched a movie a few days ago called "The Purple Plain" (have no idea what the title had to do with the movie, couldn't see the connection). Starred Gregory Peck who was flying Mosquitoes in Burma with an English squadron, which was another hole in the plot, not sure whey he was in an English squadron. Anyway, there wasn't actually much footage of the Mosqutoes, but I noticed the odd seating arrangement. At least in the movie, the navigator was beside the pilot which I knew was the arrangement, but he was also behind the pilot. Movie was made in the early '50s so I guess there were still some real Mosquitoes around.

Kind of off topic, but after crashing, they spend a lot of time in an arid, treeless landscape. Always had the image of Burma being a humid, jungle environment, but then I've never been to Burma. Of course, older movies didn't sometimes pay a lot of attention to landscape accuracy.

Well it looks like there will be no XD for me this winter  Unless I make something for myself. That is no fun.

I would think that Burma is all jungle to. But I have not been there either. But I did see the movie Burma quite a few times. I think Earl Flynn was in that one.
Kirk Douglas : Mine hit the ground first
John Wayne : Mine was taller
