[+] Pleased w/ Wirbelwind custom turret

Post by MG-42 » Sat Dec 13, 2008 7:44 am

[+] > Hello everybody ; Just wanted to comment on spikedude's , (pickelhaube) , Matt's ,.. custom Wirbelwind turret project.

* The turret came complete , grey-primer'd , and is flawless , and comes w/ a 5-page (user friendly) instruction sheet , and have already installed it on my Pz.IV , minus the guns & stuff yet but put it on there for looks right now just to get a feel or a good picture of what it will really look like. 8)

* Matt really did his homework on it and anybody who didn't order one or two of these , doesn't know what they're missing out on.

* It's highly detailed and really like the brass gun tubes. At least they look like brass , not copper , except for one small copper tube that fits in between the gun mounts for raising and lowering.

* Matt also inspects and performs his own QC before each shipment to insure that you'll receive satisfaction.

* Be careful though when trimming and sanding off flash. As resin is brittle.

* Matt also plans to make some X-tra magazine stowage bins & magazines for the interior of the turret too. ...... + He plans to make some APC gun shield armor for the .50-cal. & rotating turret in the future. If he isn't already working on this now.

.............. Thanks again Matt for making dreams come true to life ! ! ! * :D

MG-42 - post some pics of your installed turret.

Pickel-
I would be in for a APC gun shield armor for the .50-cal. & rotating turret.
I have always wanted one for my APC, but lack the skills to do so.
Let us know when you are ready to work on this project and put my name down for one!

* I don't have pic capability yet but the turret is a perfect fit. + = 8)

* I'll of course be down for a Wirbelwind stowage kit + an APC armor gun shield kit too.

Thanks Mitch for such a positive review. I hope everybody feels the same way when they start theres. There was a LOT of time that whent into these. I am making my last few to finish the orders. I was running out of resin and ordered some new stuff but did not like the way it worked. It was quality stuff but just did not work well. So I had to order more of the resin I usually use and was dead in the water for a couple of days. I used the time to remake the turret mold because it was worn out. I also took this time to make the master for the mag bins. I may start pouring thses today. I stayed up to 12 last night making the molds. MY PC IS DOWN AGAIN    I AM USING MY SONS NOTE BOOK . COX CABLE IS COMING OUT ON SUNDAY TO FIX IT. I THINK THE MOTUME WHENT OUT. I WILL POST SOME PICS OF THE BIN THEN HOPEFULLY.

It looks like the APC armor upgrade kit is getting popular. Thanks to Mr. Pierce out in Ore. for setting me up with all of the models and stuff to do this project. IT WAS ALSO HIS IDEA. :D :D Hopefully this will be a simple project . That will be a break form getting off of the Wirbel and Flak 38 quad.I am not sure if I wll do both the stand alone 38 and the APC upgrade together or not. THE FLAK GUN NEEDS TO BE DONE FIRST.

Thanks again Mitch for the kind remarks.I am sorry to go on for so long. When you other guys get yours speak up .It is nice to hear how you will like them. If you are disgrunteld  PM me and we can work it out together. You don't see this kind of service from the big guys do you ?
:D :D :D

BTW copper is a little more priceyer than brass. It is also is a little harder then brass. Making brass the go to metal . How do you like the little brass tips ? A little work went into those as well.

Given 21ST new product release timeframe being months and years, I am sure none of your customers will give you any flak over the few days you are taking to make these. Did I make a joke then? Looking forward to seeing some custom photos.

Got Mine this past week. It is a first class piece of custom work. Pickle did a fantastic job. Count me in for some more magazines and mag bins as well.

I'm interested in seeing everyone's pics when they get them done.

(I've nagged MG-42 for the last two years about buying a digital camera.)
